"WOW I got the meaning of the book. It is about how a young boy deal with losing his mother. I could put myself at times as the boy so for that the book meant more to me."

What a beautiful book on grief and loss. I picked this one up thinking I would finish it over the next few days, but was compelled to finish this. It is utterly heart-breaking and still uplifting. This is one of those times I wish Goodreads had the option for half stars. If so, I'd give this one 1 1/2 stars due to the lovely illustrations that help tell this story, which really seems better suited for visual media.
I know it's a well-loved book but I just did not like it. Young Conor, despite being relentlessly bullied at school and having a dying mother, is kind of an annoying little shite. His grandmother is a mean, spiteful woman. We're supposed to dislike his father because he's moved ...more
