As if it wasn't enough that Neil Gaiman writes like a boss, apparently, he is a master storyteller/ narrator to boot! This book is everything that a children's book of the fantasy/ macabre genre can be - nay, should be! I was just entranced, and the seven and a half hours of the audio-book just flew.

There's a bit of The Jungle Book here, which served as a sort of template, if Wikipedia be believed. There's some Harry Potter in here, as well - that mix of "boy who lost his family but was accepted
