A wonderful story. From the very first paragraph I strongly suspected I was heading for a 5 star read.

This book was most definitely a unique book and quite good for an author's debut novel. The first pages of the book piqued my interest right away and I was hooked on The Ten Thousand Doors of January. Since I rarely read the blurbs, I had no idea that January is the MC of the book and not a month.

Well, this book definitely starts out slow, but seeing as I'm literally crying now at the end, I'd say it's more than made up for it's fairly slow start.
This book is a love letter to imagination. To wonder and adventure. It's a love letter to young women with dreams. And more importantly, this is a love letter to stories. To the stories we tell and the stories we hear and the stories we read.

This book was extremely hyped, but I really could not get into it. There was nothing *wrong* with it; it just didn't have that magical appeal that everyone else seemed to enjoy. It got 4 stars because, although it wasn't necessarily interesting to me, it was still a good book (and that's what the CAWPILE ranking sheet calculated for it). Maybe others will enjoy it more?
