A decent retelling/prequel. I rather enjoyed the prince's friendship with Gaston.
I didn't like that there were three ugly witches rather than a "beautiful enchantress".
And there should have been more Belle.

I thought I liked this one the first time I read it. And I suppose I did.
However, seeing how it fits into the other stories makes this one more fun. I enjoyed the added plot of the enchantress being the sister to the Odd Sister and them all cursing him. I think I wouldn't have ...more

I quite enjoyed this book. Lately people have been doing the classic fairy tales from the villain's point of view and this one was well done. I really liked that the beast was not made into a sympathy character in the same way as the movie Maleficent did with the evil fairy. I liked that it still had most of the main story that we know from Beauty and the Beast but it had a twist in it that made the story still enjoyable. It had a lot of elements similar to the Picture of Dorian Gray but I guess ...more

This one didn't do it for me, maybe because the Beauty and the Beast is one of my favorite stories. The Beast was a jerk throughout the story and then at the last minute he's saved. ...more
