Okay, this was SO good.

I've been reading a lot of Fae books lately but this one had a completely different feel to it. it's a world where Jude, a human, lives in Faerie alongside her sisters. Obviously, she has many disadvantages. She craves power, which can afford her a form of safety in this land, dangerous to mortals, that she now calls home.

(4.5) Wonderful and captivating story! The book has a badass female protagonist, faeries, lgbt rep and more! Holly black’s beautiful writing really transports you to the faerie world and to all the wonderful characters in it. It was such a fun read and I can’t wait to get book 2!

This book is about a girl who is raised in a world where she isn’t accepted and is bullied for it. She has to learn to adapt to this and she ends up doing it quite well. I loved Jude because she was cunning, brave and independent and moreover, i loved cardan because he is a cruel prince with a soft spot for an enemy.

I loved how in the story, faries cant lie and so everything Cardan admitted, or didn’t admit, was all truthful. I felt like this brought spice to the story and extra tension which m ...more
