It is amazing to me how much Agatha Christie could do in a book with less than 200 pages! Mind you, we are already acquainted with M. Poirot and Arthur Hastings at this point, but still, she gives us such vivid portrayals so compactly. Rather than writing long descriptions, she sketches quick characters and sets them in motion and lets the reader fill in the blanks from there.

Christie had really hit her stride as a mystery writer by this novel. There's no fooling around with international crime

Peril at End House shows a naïve Hercule Poirot that falls under the spells of Magdala “Nick” Buckley. Each chapter displays a foolish man that believes everything a young, beautiful woman tells him. Poirot does not allow the little gray cells to invade this case until the final chapters. Nick enlists Poirot to guard against multiple plots of killing her. Bem, esse livro é excelente, e tinha lido há pouco tempo e consegui lembrar um pouco da história.

A maldade humana não tem fim e o dinheiro é sempre o problema nesses textos...

Sempre me pergunto: se não houvesse o dinheiro será que teríamos um mundo melhor?
