This is such an outstanding example of when the Poirot books work, they really work. You do get some overly description deductions, but honestly I didn't mind. A solid Christie outing that I enjoyed on my second reading. The clues felt a bit obvious this time, but I tend to think that is more of a factor of having read so many Christie books previously, as well as knowing who the killer was at the beginning. In my first reading, I almost never know who the killer is. Christie also presents thought provoking themes about morality, justice, and the dangers of loving things above people. Definitely in the top tier of mystery novels.

Ah Agatha. Quite funny in the early part as Poirot gives Hastings many a good serve, then the plot settles to explore the evil shenanigans of the key players. Entertaining read.
