I had never seen the actual Studio Ghibli film before reading. so, I read this and then watched. I will say these can be enjoyed both as separate creative works as well as complimenting one another.
The tones of this book are more humorous, particularly British humor which since the film is Japanese the tonal shift definitely occurs mostly because of this, in my opinion.

3rd time re-reading this book. This is my first re-read of the year and still enjoy this book very much. I have watched Howl's Moving Castle that the book was an inspiration for. I really wanted to love this book but honestly I was just bored. I absolutely love the movie and if you have not seen it I highly recommend it. The book has quite a lot of differences from the movie but I did know that going into the book. I honestly do not have much to say other than I was extremely disappointed.
