I am impressed. It took me a while to get into this book, but as it went on and the pieces fell into place, I was gripped, surprised, and satisfied by the experience as a whole.
With this book you will find some uniqueness in the plot. Have you ever read a mystery about a "submarine" in a barn in Virginia? Didn't think so. Also, the courtroom drama is great. Last book of 2020 and what a great way to end! I highly suggest this book to EVERYONE! The author is a fantastic writer that pulls from her own experience into the writing the novel.

I read it for the Goodreads' Book Club Diversity in All Forms! If you'd like to participate in the discussion here is the link: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

I had high hopes for this book and it's been difficult for me to assign a rating because I'm not sure if the story (including the conclusions) or the research/writing was more "off" for me...In the end, I think both are problematic. The author seems to put forth what is an interesting and very real scenario-parents approaching their children's disabilities in different ways. The problem, however, is that she sprinkles in many ableist ideas and really does nothing to address them. In listening to
