Toni Morrison writes like no other and this book, or novella, is just another fine example of her writing prowess. However, there just seemed to be too much missing or unexplained for me in this book. I typically rant that books should be edited downwards 100+ pages or so. This is a case where I wanted more! No matter, I plan to read her entire oeuvre for 2016. Looking forward to it!

This was not the best work that I have read by Toni Morrison. I enjoyed the love story but was unclear of the political implications. I can see this story adapted into a screen play with some tweaks.

I read this book in one day. I couldn't put it down. The main theme throughout the entire text surrounds how parents can destroy a child or how adults take advantage of children. Every parent should read this book. Morrison takes current events and add to her plot. I was so not disappointed. This book is definitely a favorite of mine. Just wow! ...more

I would rate this book as 3.5 stars.

I typically love Toni Morrison's novels because I love the way she writes. She captivates you with her writing, her characters, and the fast quick tones of her books. I was able to get through this book fairly quickly once I sat down and read for a long period of time. However, this book seemed to have a lot of missing pieces. I wasn't sure of what was really going on because I didn't have a deep enough backstory to carry me through this novel. I get the gene
