I loved both of these characters. The fluidity of this book was fantastic!! The story was endearing and original. One of the best books I’ve read all year.

"Michael was mint chocolate chip for her. She could try other flavors, but he’d always be her favorite."

This book has been on my radar for a while but with it having so much hype, I was afraid to read it. It was really well written but it didn’t quite live up to that pedestal people put it on.

Stella is a smart, badass woman who has everything she could ask for except a love life. When it comes to that department, she has issues. With her Mom begging for grandchildren and setting up blind dates

I really enjoyed this book and hope to read the rest of the series!

"Stella Lane thinks math is the only thing that unites the universe. She comes up with algorithms to predict customer purchases — a job that has given her more money than she knows what to do with, and way less experience in the dating department than the ave

Pros: OwnVoices, especially positive for neurodiversity and Asian romantic protagonists. Stella’s realization, independence, and strength was powerful:

“She was not broken. She saw and interacted with the world in a different way, but that was her! ...she couldn’t change the root of herself. At her core, she would always be autistic. People called it a disorder, but it didn’t feel like one. To her, it was simply the way she was.”

Cons: Many rom com cliches, especially the quantities of miscommunic

This book was not at all what I was expecting from the blurb. It was a romance, and I guess its great to have thr voice of an autistic author writing a novel about an autistic protagonist, but, frankly it was way too graphic for my taste- way too many super long, detailed sex scenes, and not enough character or backstory development. Am surprised at how many people seemed to have loved it so much. It was ok, but it read like mediocre erotica. 2 stars, barely.

3.75 stars

I was so close to giving this 4 stars but the ending knocked it down a bit.

What I loved:
•Fake dating trope
•Fanfic like smut straight from the beginning
•Asian characters
•Stella having a STEM PhD
•Michael taking care of his family
•The Pretty Woman vibes
•Stella's autism not being one and done footnote

What I disliked
•Phillip annoyed me
•No true resolution to Michael's demons
•What happens to Stella's money at the end

The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang

I love that the relationship at the center of this book is so diverse between Michael, a Vietnamese American, and Stella, a young woman with the disability of autism. Stella tries to pass is nondisabled to avoid social consequences of stigma. However Michael wished that she had told him about her diagnosis, but he realized it was important to her that he didn’t know. Stella hates that people act differently because of her so she didn’t speak out about not going to
