Q: “We're not courting trouble," I say. "Flirting with it, at most.” (c)
Q: “I swear, you would play the coquette with a well-upholstered sofa."
"First, I would not. And second, how handsome is this sofa?” (c)
Q: “... I've always been of the mind that subtlety is a waste of time. Fortune favors the flirtatious.” (c)
A bit rriddiculous but sweet lovey-dovey story.
Adventure! (So very brainless andadoringly irresposible but I'll live.)

The great tragic love story of Percy and me is neither great nor truly a love story, and is tragic only for it's single-sidedness. It is also not an epic monolith that has plagued me since boyhood, as might be expected. Rather, it is simply the tale of how two people can be important to each other their whole lives, and then, one morning, quite without meaning to, one of them wakes to find that importance has been magnified into a sudden and intense desire to put his tongue in the other's mouth.

“We are not broken things, neither of us. We are cracked pottery mended with lacquer and flakes of gold, whole as we are, complete unto each other. Complete and worthy and so very loved.”
Trigger warnings: abuse, racial discrimination, gender identity discrimination

This is one of the best books I have read in years! Probably the best novel of this year. It’s funny, it has adventure, it has romance and trouble!
I picked the book up thinking it would be a fluffy 18th century romance, but instead I get an epic adventure with badass women, alchemy, and a main character you can’t help but love-hating. I can’t wait to share this with others!

I️ liked the book but didn’t love it. I️ thought it began a little slow, but I️ guess now it was building up. I️ didn’t like Felicity at first but ended up enjoying her character. I️ enjoyed the aspect of travel in the novel. I️ enjoyed the growing relationship between Monty and Percy. And I did like the ending. I️ won’t spoil it for you. Read it 😋

Excellent narration and entertaining story! Looking forward to continuing the series.
