I loved this book. It reveals the complexities of women in a family and their ties to each other, and their search for their own identities. It is an example of how reading about a culture different from one's own can help you see the similarities of human kind, while appreciating the differences which makes each culture unique and beautifully distinct.

Relationships between mothers and daughters are not always simple as the author reveals in this fictional work of four sets included in this work. Mothers who started their lives in China, steeped in culture and tradition and daughters raised in the United States exposed to more freedom of choice and ideologies.
