I’m not really a novella reader. Just a preference. Based on reviews, I got the impression that this book was a string of novella but gave it s go anyway.
This is not a book of novellas. This reads like chuck-lit or chuck-lit (boy-lit), whatever you want to call it. The life or a piece of Sebastian Rudd’s life.
Yes, there are multiple story arcs but they add up to one. Each part builds on the next and the events that follow.

well it isn't typical Grisham. Doesn't have the pace, the wit, tense arguments, the thrill of wins. All the wins feel contrived. A lawyer who operates just barely on this side of the legal divide, forgetting the rights and wrongs, is good as a starting premise but reading through the book, one feels tired of his street smart rogueness.

Good, but not great. I love Grisham's lawyers who hate practicing law. Which is most of them. But they're so good at it.

For quality of prose, this shouldn't be a 4-star book, but I had a blast reading this and tore right through it! So 4 stars it is. This book will make you worry about our legal system.
