So finally 1st book of this huge series is over. It was fun quick and twisty turny. Star warsy twist towards the end made a union possible. It was quick read with fast paced action full of paranormal characters you have vampires, werewolves, fairies, elves, pixies, warlords, Shadow hunters and magic. Loved this one already placed the bookmark in the next book though haven't finished a single page of that one yet but hopefully would be done through few chapters tonight itself.

I wish Goodreads allowed half-stars...if it did, I would have given this one a one and a half. But I decided to round up based on the simple fact that the book is readable, and the writing is okay. Not exceptional or even memorable, but okay. The author kept the tension going well enough to get you through the book.

My most immediate problem came in the form of the main female character, Clary, who I never did manage to care for or sympathize with. Right around chapter 4 I found her too stupid to ...more

I'm probably one of the few people who weren't raving about how good this book is. I thought this book was just okay for me. I found that the first 100 pages of this book to be slow, and I had to keep putting it down a couple of times before the story finally picks up a bit. It gets better towards the end, there are some twists and turns that i kinda like at the end, and makes me want to continue reading this series. I hope the next book in the series will be better :) ...more
