What Members Thought

This is the first book in a new reading challenge, and not something I usually read. I really liked the story. The beginning and the end are really good, only the middle was a little slow.
What made it 3 stars for me, was the prose. I can see why a lot of people like it, but is not really for me. Sometimes it made story run a bit long.
But overall I liked the book, and it was fun to read something out of my comfort zone for a change!

This was a very different historical read than I usually read. The way it was told was nice, but since there wasn't a lot of dialogue it wasn't as enjoyable for me. Still it was a really good read.

I loved this book!!! I love any WWII story, but what I loved about this one were the stories within this story. The book jacket summary of this book pulled me in, but it was about more than the fate of a boy and girl who end up meeting - it was about a rare, valuable and powerful stone and the power and importance of communications (radio), especially during WWII. Of course this was an amazing book! Studying, working two jobs, and having an insane number of books I'm currently reading, prevented me from finishing fast. The writing was so poetic and really made me feel like I was hanging over the character's shoulders. Good solid read.
