Another John Green's (okay, okay, and David Levithan's) book that made me question my whole existence, my whole identity.

I really enjoyed this book. I'll begin my review by pointing out that the plot was original and intriguing, but at some parts a bit predictable. But this didn't tire me at all. I loved how the story was narrated by two different perspectives, two different Will Graysons, each of them with his own demons to repel, his own path to follow. One of them with more confidence but wit Another John Green's (okay, okay, and David Levithan's) book that made me question my whole existence, my whole identity.

I really enjoyed this book. I'll begin my review by pointing out that the plot was original and intriguing, but at some parts a bit predictable. But this didn't tire me at all. I loved how the story was narrated by two different perspectives, two different Will Graysons, each of them with his own demons to repel, his own path to follow. One of them with more confidence but with many doubts when it comes to friendship and love, the other one completely aware of his homosexuality, but not ready (yet) to dive out of the ocean of his depression. Also, I particularly liked most of the "second" characters, apart from Maura (she should burn in hell for what she did, forgiveness doesn't come that easy for people who are enemies with this word, um). Somewhere among the second half of the book I kind of realized how the story was going to unfold but I liked it because I tried to focus more on the inner world of the characters.
A few words about the morals and the life-lessons of this book, as I perceived them. I loved how the lowercase Will Grayson dealt with -and lived with- his depression. Not many books out there deal with how depressed people live with their disease, after having been diagnosed with it. On the contrary, most of them cope with the initial wars with depression and how the characters choose to make it -or not make it- known to their social surroundings. Furthermore, the whole "the cat is both alive and dead until we actually see it" made me think that people's relationships are the same. We don't know what we really feel for someone until we crawl under his/her skin and watch things and life and love from his/her point of view.
Overall, 4 out of 5 stars, because this book wasn't a shining masterpiece, but it surprised me with how talentedly the authors handled the feelings of their protagonists. (Tiny Cooper was a bomb of optimism and happiness for sure!). If you have read other books by either John Green or David Levithan, I'm pretty sure that this book will perfectly match the feelings you've probably already developed for these two authors. And if you haven't read any of their books, I strongly recommend you to do so, as soon as possible. This one is an enjoyable and "light" read that will make you feel all floaty and hopeful in the end. It may become a small sunray of smiling on your library. :-)

This book tells stories of two Will Graysons who cross paths one cold night in Chicago. This book is written by two authors (John Green, David Levithan) and they have one chapter after another by each Will's perspective. John's Will is awkward and shy with a Gay friend while David' Will is Gay and is depressed and has a friend who is a girl.

Its a very fun read and it's easy to identify which part was written by John and David - Spoiler - David's parts are full of abuses and foul language.

Will Grayson is overshadowed by his friend Tiny Cooper. The second Will Grayson is pining over Issac, a boy whose virtual presence is a blissful respite. Then Tiny Cooper goes and makes a play about a certain Phil Rayson which inevitably upsets Will. Simultaneously, a plan to meet Issac goes horribly wrong and upsets the other Will. Both Will Graysons, existing in a space contrary to one another, are distraught. Somehow, they meet each other and from there, it’s only an uphill climb.

This being my first John Green book was an absolute delight. The writing is hearty and while depicting very realistic people with genuine struggles, makes you fall in love with the story. David Levithan’s chapters were more blunt and unrestrained, in the sense that it portrayed the second Will Grayson as being stark, a little hard hearted. The chapters altered between both Will Graysons’ perspectives and was a welcome change of thoughts. While the theme of homosexuality is explored largely, we also come to terms with concepts like independence, unconditional friendship and irrevocable mistakes. Even though Will gets mad at Tiny numerous times, their friendship is far removed from trivial fights. In that, Will not only commends Tiny’s confidence and kind heart, but is also able to get past his annoyance at Tiny eventually. Tiny Cooper, though associated to both the main characters, shines through like a protagonist. His rapidly changing love life does not deter him in the least bit and when the time comes, does not prevent him from making a more heartfelt commitment. Both the Will Graysons are able to grow exponentially due to Tiny’s interference in their lives. The novel doesn’t speak much about their respective families and I guess its alright, because they all come together like one big family. The play that Tiny takes charge of ends on a brilliant note and is representative of the wonder that Tiny is. Will Grayson and Maura’s friendship is typical in a lot of ways and it was sort of predictable. I flew through this book and enjoyed every bit of it. I just wish the ending had been a little more elaborate and less ambiguous. But I definitely recommend this to all contemporary lovers out there. A fun, well packaged story. ...more

I really enjoy reading this book, and at first it was quite mind-blowing because I'm confuse what these two authors want to tell through the story, but otherwise and after 50 pages it is really good! ;) and yeah, I never read a book which is written by two people, too afraid the point of view and plot will be confusing but this one really change my mind. One of the book that I can't put it down till I finished. :D ...more

I had so much fun reading this. I had a good amount of funny in it and that is something I love. To me it was a rather light read. But I loved it. The only thing I hated were the chapters with out capitals. But I will read more books of David Levithan and John Green.

All you need to know is that there are 2 boys called Will Grayson and an other boy called Tiny and they are awesome. The 2 wills meet and their life intertwines.
