I loved this book when I read it back in 1988. I re-read it several times thereafter.

I liked Adams' writing style and quirkiness of the story. The BBC TV series was good, although I never felt like the movie really (a) did it justice or (b) moved it along enough for the times.

A lot of the humour (for me at least) was how it poked fun st some science fiction cliches of tv shows from the 60s and 70s. We're all familiar with those cliches now, and other movies (like Galaxy Quest) have satirised i ...more
