Allegiant (Divergent, #3) in The Wide Web of Friends in YA Books

I would like to start this review by saying that it is going to have spoilers in it. I know some people still haven't read the Divergent series or have not read Allegiant yet so if you have not stop reading right now! :)

As most of you know already, Insurgent was my favorite Divergent book. However, I would have to say that Allegiant would be my second favorite. I am more of a fan of the woman that Tris becomes than a fan of the girl she starts off being. Allegiant was page turning for me. It sh I would like to start this review by saying that it is going to have spoilers in it. As most of you know already, Insurgent was my favorite Divergent book. However, I would have to say that Allegiant would be my second favorite. I am more of a fan of the woman that Tris becomes than a fan of the girl she starts off being. Allegiant was page turning for me. It showed how far Tris, Four, and the others would go to do what they thought was right.

I know that there are lots of people who have issues with the way the series ended but I have to voice the unpopular opinion here; I did not. I thought that it was very brave of Roth to end the series with such a shocking death. Too often, in my opinion, authors do the death scare or they just won't have characters die. As readers, we all know what the death scare is. The chapter is ending and it looks like that character is not going to make it but behold as soon as the next chapter has started we find out that the character is not dead, in fact there was not even a chance that they could be dead, the author just wanted you to keep reading. It is something that I have grown to really dislike in novels.

Roth did not do that. She made a choice that, in my opinion, fits the character perfectly. Not only does it fit them perfect but the way the death impacts everyone else is done is such a way that it only makes sense that those other characters would react that way. Four coming apart at the seams and literally not being able to stand once the news dawns upon him not only broke my heart but is probably one of the most gut-wrenching scenes I have ever read.

I do think that there were parts of Allegiant that were slow. I think there was some fluff added to keep the story going when it could have just been a shorter but and much more of a page-turning read. For a trilogy though, I thought this was a very solid ending. Did I want to see the deaths happen that did? Of course not! Did it make sense for her story that she did what she did? You bet it did. In the end, isn't that what we, as readers, all want? A story to wrap up so that it makes sense, so that the characters do things that would make sense for them, as individuals? So that, when we close the book after reading the last sentence, we have read an amazing story that though it might not be what we wanted to happen, fits the story nonetheless. ...more

I sobbed so hard toward the ending of this book. I got why Veronica Roth did wat she did and i get that the whole point of Tris's character is to find who is was and to perform an ultimate selfless act and when that is done, that's the end of her journey there's nothing else left but there's Tobias and the ppl she loves. This book is not the typical happy ever after ending but in some ways it is, so i don't knw whether i love the book or dislike it bt then again i can never dislike Divergent Ser ...more

I cannot describe the excitement I had for this book so as soon as I got it in my hands I started it.

To be honest, I was expecting something more exciting to be outside the fence, but then I realized that it was kind of logical and that it made sense. I surely was confused everytime Veronica explained the outer world, I just couldn't picture it exactly as she described it, and I really wanted to know what was it like in other places.

I have to say that the 1st and 2nd book was just better than the last. the beginning you are in the middle of every thing and its exciting and you know that Tris and Fours love will be tested.

Then you get to the Bureau and the outside world. All the things and facts about GD and GP made 100 pages extremly boring, but if you push through it the next pages are exciting.

I feel like Tris death was true to her character, being selfless and brave. I did not shed a tear for her but I did ...more
