Glad that Maxon got a happy ending. Not a fan of America at all. There are some good qualities to her, but I don't know. She just doesn't seem like a strong heroine or anything to me. Glad that Celeste became a nicer person. Also glad that Aspen and Lucy got together. It was interesting to discover that America's father was a Nothern Rebel. Will probably read the next part to see if the new characters are appealing. ...more

The One is the final chapter of America’s story and the end of The Selection. Maxon has narrowed down the group of girls to just four but that doesn’t make it any easier for him. Things are still uneasy with the continued trouble from the southern rebels causing America and Maxon to befriend the northern rebels for a potential alliance. However the king doesn’t want America around anymore due to the fact that she’s willing to stand up for what she believes in and won’t let him control her. It’s The One is the final chapter of America’s story and the end of The Selection. Maxon has narrowed down the group of girls to just four but that doesn’t make it any easier for him. Things are still uneasy with the continued trouble from the southern rebels causing America and Maxon to befriend the northern rebels for a potential alliance. However the king doesn’t want America around anymore due to the fact that she’s willing to stand up for what she believes in and won’t let him control her. It’s become clear to America that she’s now staying for the right reason but she needs to talk to Aspen and explain that her feelings have changed.

America and Maxon continue working with the rebels even risking their lives to meet with them outside the castle. At first she was only here to make the money to help her family but now America is in love with Maxon but refuses to say it first even though he attempts to get her to. As America moves through the process getting closer each day to when Maxon will pick his bride she will be tested, having to sentence a criminal proving she supports the rules is just another chance for the king to push her out. Will America make it to the final round? Will they stop the rebels? Who will Maxon choose for the next princess and future bride?

I have loved America since the first book she’s gotten better as the series progressed and I love that she’s grown one of my favorite characters. When it comes to picking between Maxon and Aspen I have always been torn how I feel. I’m not a fan of love triangles and granted this one was very unique it still frustrated me. Since the first book I have been on team Maxon he had my heart not long after we started learning that there is more to him than you would expect. I liked Aspen but I wanted to see America do great things.

I feel like I’ve been waiting forever for this book well since the Elite came out last year. I even preordered so I could start as soon as my copy arrived at the door, and didn’t read any of the reviews online ahead so I had no idea how it would end. I was drawn into the story right from the start having a hard time putting the book down because I had to know how it would end. The One had me on the edge of my seat I was worried about what would happen to America when she was risking her life and if she would pick the right guy. In the end I wasn’t disappointed in the least by her choice if anything I think the ending was a perfect way to finish the series. I think the author did a great job creating characters that are easy to connect with and you can’t help falling in love with the. Some of them I didn’t like at all while others surprised me and I was sad to see them go. It’s an emotional roller coaster that will leave you teary eyed at least it did for me. The found the whole series well written from start to finish it’s a series I fell in love with. The covers are stunning and I love the way they look on my shelf. I can’t tell you how many people I suggest this series too best described as the bachelor meets the dystopian genre. I’m sad to see it end but glad to know I can always re-read and fall in love all over again. I highly recommend The Selection it’s one of my favorite series. ...more

This may have been my favorite book of the series. It was that good. It was such an amazing ending. I loved every bit of it and I couldn't have asked for it to be any better. First, the cover is gorgeous and it's white which is what a bride wears on her wedding day so I found it really fitting for the plot. Speaking of the plot, it was so good and so sad too. I loved the closeness between America and Maxon know that America has made her choice. I was TEAM MAXON from the start and I was so happy This may have been my favorite book of the series. I was also glad that in the end, Maxon learned of the truth, it showed that he still loved America through and through. He may have been mad, but during the attack he showed that he really loved her. There was sadness when people died and I felt really bad. The characters were still great. I liked America better in this book from the last book. She was somehow more loving and brave. She was done being vulnerable and scared, she was going to be a fighter know. At the end of the book I really respected her and I was happy for her and Maxon. Maxon as always was great. He really loved America, she was his first everything and he really deserved her. I know that he is going to be a great king and husband. It killed me when I read about Queen Amberly, she was so good and I just cried when she died before the wedding. But I know she would have loved America like her own daughter. Celeste was a little harsh and mean in the previous books, but in this book I liked her more. It made me sad when she died, but she had friends like America, who will always remember her. Kriss, I had mixed feeling of. I learned that she and more secrets than people knew. Plus she loved Maxon. But Maxon only had eyes for America. But she's happy for her too. Lastly, there's Aspen. I liked him better in this book too. She accepted the truth that both him and America had changed and that they will have to go their separate paths now. He can't protect her any longer,she can protect herself. I was glad that he got together with Lucy. She needed a knight and Aspen was going to just the right guy. Lastly, the ending was just great. A perfect wrap up to the book and series. America and Maxon went through it all, the fights, deaths, and choices and finally made it to the alter. They got their happily ever after. I'm sure they will be happy. Well I'm finished with this series and I will be reading the the short novellas of the book soon. Plus I'm really holding out for a movie to be based on this series. I'm happy with it~! It's just.....Elite left a huge impact on me. I was on high with the sweet moments but crushed my heart on the last half, I was in tears and depressed for days. It's one of the most hated book sequela ever I'm sure, but that's what made it to 5 stars for me~ It was so hateful, so intense, objectively the story was just perfect! So of course I was looking forward greatly to how they will go on after that....

This book started interestingly. We see Ames putting more effort, we get to know more about the girls and Maxon's side...it was all great and happy...then we get the usual misunderstandings and I do like how they resolve it after a few heartaches but that's just it, I didn't feel any~~

Now I don't wanna spoil anything but there were 4 'significant' deaths... And I think this is where I was less satisfied with...

First death came out of nowhere! O.o I didn't even feel anything! But secrets were revealed and we get more explanations of things so I guess that's fine...

Now the 2nd one what sooooo unnecessary!!! Like seriously???!!! After that character made a major turn-araound, you just killed *beep* for drama????? Probably the only moment where I teared up!!

3rd deathSSS were greatly hoped for no doubt, though the other one, not so much....but it was just convenient for the story...but I don't really have problem with that it's just that it was so easy...

Last death was even more a "huh??" moment! Toooo convenient and really??! If you're foreshadowing a couple why throw one character into the mix hoping to mislead readers which obviously isn't working and just kill *---* at the end so everybody ends up happy with no complications?? 0.o

Also I think it would've been better if that part in book 2 where they actually get to see the rebel like the curtseying @ the forest, happened in book 1 and half of the revelations in book 3 should've been gradually revealed in book 2 because I felt that everything was rushed and resolved so easily...like she just wanted to reveal everything and be done with it... *sigh*

I guess the problem was I had a whole year of excitement build up that the experience felt quite short... For those who've just finished Elite, reading this immediately might be awesome though~ so never mind me, just enjoy~! ...more

While this book has the same tone, pace & enjoyment as the two previous books, I was really let down since it was the conclusion of the series.. I. WANTED.MORE!! More rebels, more worldbuilding, more heartache, just overall more.. I hope this series spawns off some fantastic fanfic because this series could have been so much more than Kiera wrote.. So much potential but it wasn't touched like I was holding out for ...more
