957268 Our readathon is fast approaching. It’ll be July 26, 27, and 28 (next weekend). Who’s ready?!?!
Jul 02, 2019 07:53AM

957268 Sounds like everyone did a great job! I’m looking forward to trying again next month. Things did not work out for me as there was an accident at my home at 2 am Saturday morning involving my dog Scout. We had to rush him to the ER vet an hour away. He’s still in the hospital, but is finally starting to recover.

957268 Welcome! Glad to have you aboard.

957268 Everyone has some great goals! My goal is to shoot for 24 hours as always, but I’d like to aim at finishing Moby Dick and get a few more Dr Seuss books in too. I’ve challenged myself to read all of the published Dr. Seuss books I can get ahold of this year. Moby Dick was my first half of the year six month goal so it’ll be perfect if I set aside the time to finish that too.

Once we get a bit closer I’ll open up the tracking thread.

957268 I can understand that fully. It seems a bigger and denser book will always slow down my reading especially if I’m tracking books or page counts.

I’ve opened up the June readathon thread for setting our end of month reading goals in case anyone wanted to start planning a bit ahead of time.

957268 Hello everyone! I’ve decided to go ahead and open the June thread readathon goals thread. It looks like our readathon will be June 28 - June 30. That worked out well!

What will you be reading?
What are your June readathon goals?
What is your time goal?

And remember this is about reading and having fun! There is no pressure.

957268 We’re halfway through June and getting closer to our end of month readathon. I’m already thinking about what’ll be on my list (when I should be focusing on what I’m reading now).

957268 Wow! You all did an amazing job! I am going to step up my game next month. The monthly readathon is definitely something I’m looking forward to.

957268 It really is a lot of fun. Any amount of time reading is worth the fun of a readathon. We have a few hours left! I can’t wait to see everyone’s totals.

957268 Children need magic in their lives. For an adult to think otherwise is absurd in my opinion. These fantasy books filled with magic are important to a child’s developing mind. It certainly encourages creativity and it pushes a child to be open minded and understanding.

I agree. Restricting books in any form (at home) really does press a child to find a way around the restriction. I guess that’s both a good thing and a bad thing because it certainly teaches a child resilience, but also teaches lying to get what you want. I’m the same about movies. My mother was very restrictive with movies and I was left out of the whole 80s pop culture hits.

957268 Great job guys! You all are doing awesome!

957268 Oh good! I’m so glad you got it to work. Yay!

I really wish Amazon would spend some time working on the GR app. It could really be much more user friendly.

957268 Jamie - it did work for me. Go to the review page. Try updating the shelves drop down. Then refresh the home page and it should appear as updated. I wish the home page had a place to update books read as that would be helpful. If that doesn’t work, let me know and maybe we can contact support to see what the issue is.
