Ok, well I found that to be a pretty fun start. It’s always good to read something just feels sort of normal set in the actual world. I also like that it’s set in Ireland, I haven’t read very many books set in that country. I suppose like Sylvs said that the relationship moved fairly quickly between Ruby and Saoirse, but you know, it’s perfectly fine. So far it just seems like a bit of fun and that it’s nothing to take too seriously so it’ll be interesting to see where it heads. I also do like the conversation around dementia as it is something that affects so many people but isn’t mentioned much in novels probably because most of the books I read only center around the concern of young people. The thing with contemporaries sometimes is that the plot is never the most original even though the book itself is fun, but still, I’m hoping to like the rest of this!
Jonathan wrote: "After finishing it, I'll give it a 3/5. I try to withhold my true feelings of the book until I finish it, but I really couldn't get into as much as I wanted to. It was a good mix of romance and fan..."Yeah, I ended up giving it a 3/5 as well. Same here, I just wasn't as engaged as I wanted but it was alright nonetheless in the end.

Well, I have finished it and it ended up being ok. I didn't love this book. Part 3 itself was fine, but nothing about it blew me away or made me go wow, this is fantastic. As a huge fantasy fan, I still can't get over the apparent lack of worldbuilding and lore and how there seems to be so little information about the world itself and the world just feels empty to me. I wanted to enjoy this, but often YA fantasy can be a hit or miss as some are quite overhyped, like this one and then I don't end up enjoying them.
Jonathan wrote: "It’s not bad, but it’s definitely something I’m not into. But I’m trying to withhold my judgement until I finish it."Totally understand that you would want to finish it first before judging it.

I don't think I will read this one but am definitely going to try and read Legendborn in the next month or so, I have an extended school camp soon so might ..."OK and yeah it's somewhat disappointing, but I hope you'll enjoy Legendborn because that book was great! And well, I see we relate in that 😅

I got to say that I’m honestly not loving it. I’ve got about 30 percent left and I’m not exactly convinced as to how much I’m going to enjoy this. The world right now still feels very sparse and there’s really little detail and while that might be ok for some, I do like a bit more worldbuilding because right now, nothing is really clear about the world at all. The characters are fine, not amazing, not terrible, although I’m not convinced with Lou and Reid’s romance though I gotta say. It’s developed ok, but it still feels rushed at the same time considering where to two started off.
Also, I’ve always seen this marketed as YA, although I can’t say I would recommend this to like twelve year olds, considering that I did just read through not an overly graphic sex scene, but explicit enough, that 1, it was awkward to have been reading this it in school surrounded by people, and 2, not really for young teens. It also just ended on a fairly major plot twist so I’m still interested in his this will go, but this is also a several book series, so it’ll be fascinating to see what the author will do to prolong the story.

Also, before I move too much into part 2, I will say that this honestly feels a bit more like New Adult than Young Adult, but I guess marketing purposes or something.

Well, I have just finished part 1 and it’s been decent. I’m certainly not loving it yet, but I’m just a fifth of the way through so there’s a lot of room for that to change. I already dislike this Archbishop, but the characterisation of both Lou and Reid has been decent I suppose. I will say that the world building has been quite sparse and I would certainly like much more in that regard. There has certainly been an interesting turn of events there that was for sure and I’m looking forward to where the rest of this novel goes.

Ok, well, I'm starting this now and I'll update everyone once I finish the first part on how it's going.

Ok, well, I have finished Legendborn and my full thoughts in a review should be up tomorrow. In the meantime, I will say that I thoroughly enjoyed this. The characters were well written, especially the main three, Bree, Nick and Set. I feel that there were some things that I probably should have seen coming, particularly at the end there, and it wasn't the most unpredictable thing ever, I really liked the way it was executed. A lot of times, YA fantasy can either be a hit or miss for me and this was great.
