88432 Well I'm done for today.

That's actually a very good summation of three star books I like it.

88432 I think it could probably have been a good book- the ideas are well enough. But the /writing/ is very strange and disjointed. I have no clue what Evie's thought processes are, and the whole book is from her pov.

I don't like Ogre Enchanted so far but I think it has almost all of the letters so far so idk what to do.

88432 Speculative fiction. :D It's cheating a little but I've never been very good at separating the SF from the F.

88432 I'm a mood reader, so planning things in advance tends to come back and bite me. I just hope I can read the four books I've already committed to reading and not DNF them because I get bored.

I am in awe of anyone who plans their reading in advance tbh. Heh.

88432 Do you always plan your reading in advance, Jamie?

88432 Have we assigned books to all the colored cards and Wild Draw 4s?

88432 Thanks for the clarifications about the reading levels. Sorry for the late reply. I only started wondering about it because a friend of mine was talking about how compulsory reading meant that she associated reading with negative emotions and whatnot, and my brain did its usually incomprehensible thought processes and I started to wonder if the two were connected. Sorry if I made it into a Thing.

88432 Ah, no that's fine. Most of my confusion has to do with how these reading grades are determined? From what I can see being able to read something as complex as Harry Potter should result in the person being able to read most books period. Idk. I'd always assumed that was the case, and this is a very different way of looking at things.

I hope everyone has been having a good week so far."

That is really vague and doesn't really clear things up, but I'm also not invested enough in the question to keep bugging people about it. :D Thanks for trying, though.

I'm trying to see if there are any comics/graphic novels I can read instead of books since I can't find arreader wordcounts for those anyway.

88432 What are these reading grade level thingies, please. My googling has been inconclusive.

88432 I sympathize. I remember staring at The Lost Hero in confused frustration. Trials of Apollo felt more like the Percy Jackson books to me, in case you are interested in checking those out.

88432 And that book won't count for the challenge. The Son of Neptune et al. will, if you start them post February.

I'm sorry I feel like maybe there was a miscommunication here? If so I apologize.

88432 They do need to be started on/after Feb 1 in the designated timezones, yes.

And that would just be like one book or something. The challenge requirements tend to be more generic/flexible than that.

I'm speaking from my extensive experience of playing UNO one time, though so please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, veterans.

88432 Mikayla wrote: "Whats wild cards?"
There are two types of these;
1. Wild Draw 4 cards; where you have to read a book which satisfied the requirements for any colored card you have that month.
2. Wild: where you need to read a book that satisfies the requirement of any other card in the same hand.
The latter may end up giving us more options to switch things around for the final and complete hand(s).

Also, hi Jamie. :) And yeah it looks really complicated till you play it once and then it gets cleared up. I suspect that may be an UNO right of passage.

I love the mini-challenges I may actually like them better than the main challenge itself. Last year's mystery solving was fun.

I wonder if the theme this year means I'll have to stock up on more sci-fi books. But I didn't have to stock up on mystery books last year so probably not...

88432 The Gurkha and the Lord of Tuesday I think, which is a sort of green-blue. I think it's turquoise-y but I wanted to be sure.
