Great, thanks Hailey. I think I have 4 already on the SS which I will finish, and have others ready to go if needed. Been on the look out for directions in the title today and have a few options

Unfortunatly Liza has had to drop out of the challenge, as she planned on 3bpm we can use 3 of Uno Pixies reads, I'll add them in if needed in the remaining few days of the month.

HALF-MONTH CHECK IN:

Were just over half way through the month and we have so far completed 51 cards, with 47 to go. So wonderfully on track.

We do still need the following colour cards if anyone has green books hanging around:

I have a 2 green if we need it still next week.
(If you have signed up for any of the colour cards and dont think you'll get them completed by the end of the month, please let us know as one of the other players might be able to cover it)

I’ve also gone through every book I have shelved on GR and I have found only one with solely black text! This is going to be a tricky one to complete!

Hidden bars don't have a sign—you just have to know about it.

Read up to 5 books from each of the following categories:

- Have a direction in the title (e.g. up, down, east, west etc.)
- Have an author's first name or surname starting with F, I, N or D
- Have a black (>50%) cover
- Have black writing on the cover (and no other text with a different colour)


Take a seat, enjoy your stay
Read up to 5 books for each of the following categories. Words related to them must be found either in text or title:

- Spirits (e.g., vodka, rum, gin, whiskey, tequila)
- Mixers (e.g., soda water, tonic water, fruit juices)
- Fruit (e.g., lemon, lime, cherries)
- Herbs and Spices (e.g., mint leaves, basil, cinnamon sticks)

◈ Every book read is worth 10 points.
◈ Each book can be used for one task only.
◈ If your team reads for all 40 tasks, you get 30 points as bonus.
◈ You do not have to have a unique item for each task (so you can use two different books with lemon in the text for "fruit")
◈ The examples given for words are just examples. Other words that fit the category (e.g. orange for fruit) are fine

◈ Books can be started at any point since the start of the UNO challenge (Feb 1)
◈ Books need to be finished after the start of this mini challenge on Feb 14, 9am UTC (countdown: https://www.timeanddate.com/countdown...) and before March 1 at 9am UTC (when the March UNO month begins).

◈ Books used for this mini challenge do not need to be separate books from what you are claiming for your UNO hands
◈ The usual book length rules apply
◈ Team spreadsheets will be updated with a mini challenge tab so that you can track your books and claim your points

Just checking completed books and your book Murder and Majong is showing on your read shelf as read on 28th of Jan and that you started reading it jan 20th. If thats the case we cannot use it. All books needed to be started and completed after the start of the game 1st feb. Please can you confirm?

That’s right, any issues accessing the sheet (I know the sheet doesn’t work great on mobiles) then feel free to do a completion post and the captains can add to the sheet.

As always though, share what you’ve read here if there’s something you’ve loved, or hated. The amount my TBR grows during UNO is normally pretty ridiculous :)

The formula for points when a book is completed is fixed. When you complete a coloured card however, it will say N/A as the spreadsheet can't work it out, so 30 just needs to be typed over it.

As long as they have some part within the story you can use them. So say there’s a dinner party and twelve guests are around the table and each has a talking role and you learn their name you can use them. But the waiter who brings a plate of food and doesn’t say anything we couldn’t use. I hope that makes sense

The formula in the points column isn’t working things out quite right, I’ll rectify it when I’m back in the office Monday morning.

But a few books completed already 👍🏼
