(my husband and I love this movie lol)

Happy Monday all! We are absolutely cruising along. Here's the outstanding color card list--please chime in just to confirm you'll still get to it (Amber, I already have your confirmation for Misery 😊)

📗2 Green-Amanda
📗Skip Green-Jackie
📘Skip Blue-Amber (confirmed)
📘8 Blue-Janine
📕 9 Red-Jackie

Other than that we only have 21 cards left (including the above!). I am not at all worried about finishing. Unfortunately, we did lose Clara, but if we need to we do have access to 3 of Uno Pixies books.

The Mini is also going amazingly!! I'll list below what still needs claims, but before anybody claims anything I wanted to give Caipi a chance to chime in if any of them work for what she's working on. (Amber I've fit both Misery and ACOWAR in already!). So Caipi, please let me know if you you want me to set aside any for you. Anyway, here's the ones left:

🤵🏻‍♂️Mayday's Tuxedo-Read a book that relates to the cocktail.
🕵🏻‍♀️Agent Smith's Margarita-Read a book that relates to the cocktail.
🐍Voldemort's Snakebit-Read a book that relates to the cocktail.
🍸One 3 part cocktail in part 2!

That's it, everything else has been claimed! I'm in awe of everyone. If anyone has anything they no longer want to read for, don't worry about it and just let us know. Thanks for being such a great team :)

88432 I'm reading You Should Be So Lucky which has a ton of cool stuff on the cover and "Lucky" is probably a good cocktail word so if anyone is looking for a filler for pt. 2 let me know and we can try to make it fit!
Mar 15, 2024 06:44AM

88432 Sounds good! I think for pt. 2 if you don’t have a cocktail already thought out just put in the reasons column something like “ideas” and then list any interesting character names (doesn’t have to be speaking can even be like a pet), settings, etc. then we can all put our brains together at the end. Jackie and I are both more analytical than creative so will probably need some assistance lol.

Cover colours need to be >50%. The examples we have give are just that, examples and you do not need to read something from the examples given. Feel free to get creative! The book needs to make sense for each cocktail but for the rest, you are given free hand to make your books fit.

◈ Every book read is worth 10 points.
◈ Each book can be used for one task only.
◈ If your team reads for all 30 tasks, you get 30 points as bonus

Part 2
After several cocktails, a lot of us tend to get a little creative - some more than others. Then again, a selection have shown their poetic prowess even before the challenge began and possibly without cocktail-influence.

Here is your chance to shine (again), now that you've drunken a multitude of cocktails: create your own cocktails!

You can use anywhere between two and six elements from your books to create a name for your cocktail along the lines of what the mods have done for the team names.

These are the elements you can choose to use from your books - any combination of these works:
- book title
- series title
- author name
- item on cover
- cover colour (no matter how much of it is found on the cover as long as one can actually detect it with the naked eye)
- name from the story (any character or named creature, you could even use the cat's name if you like)
- setting of the story (can be the entire setting, can be the setting of a single scene, whatever works for your creation)

The names of your cocktails do not have to be villain/troublemaker inspired. You could create a Miss Piggy's Pink Umbrella if you wanted. Or a Little Miss Sunshine's Bellini.

◈ Every book read is worth 10 points.
◈ Each book can only be used once for the mini challenge.
◈ No bonus points for completing this part as it is supposed to be fun. No pressure.

The usual:

◈ Books can be started at any point since the start of the UNO challenge (Feb 1).
◈ Books need to be finished after the start of this mini challenge on March 15, 9am UTC (Countdown: https://www.timeanddate.com/countdown...) and before April 1 at 9am UTC (when the April UNO month begins).

◈ Books used for this mini challenge do not need to be separate books from what you are claiming for your UNO hands.
◈ The usual book length rules apply.
◈ Team spreadsheets will be updated with a mini challenge tab so that you can track your books and claim your points

Weekly update and March Mini announcement!

Hey team! We are cruising along for March! We've completed 50 cards so far! Still have 62 left but I have no doubt that we will make it!

At this point if you've claimed a color card and are not sure you'll finish, let everyone know!

Now for the mini, I'm going to copy the mini instructions in the next post since it's a lot of information and I don't want it to get lost. There's an opportunity for 55 tasks, but the second half is all about creativity so we should be easily able to slot in books as needed! Feel free to claim any spots on the March Mini tab of our planning spreadsheet, the big three readers are only going to claim a couple for now but once the mini starts we are going to open it up and claim as much as we want so if you have one you really want claim it now! And as always let me and Jackie know if you have any questions :)
