88432 All captains and co-captains have now been invited to the captains group (for those not friends with this account, you will have a friend request, and then we can invite you).

Captains and co-captains by team:
Note: we had a few people sign up as "either" that weren't assigned a role, so don't be concerned if your name isn't here. It just means you are a team member :)

London: 8am, 1st February
New York: 3am, 1st February
San Francisco: Midnight, 1st February

88432 "Can I request to be on a team with xyz, abc, def... etc."

This is a question that always pops up so I thought I'd answer it here.

We totally get that it is fun to play with people you know. And we have no problems with trying to accomodate requests for 2-3 people to be on the same team
BUT
1. We don't make "whole" teams of set people (so you can't request 10 people on one team for example)
2. Book counts play a large role in UNO because the teams have a set number of books to read each month. So if you have a group that reads 150 books in the month and the team only has to read 80 it means you'll be bored for half the month (I'm sure you don't want that!). So if you and your friends have large book counts it can be difficult to make a viable team.
--this is also why it's important to try and accurately estimate your monthly books. There is no benefit to under estimating for UNO--

So, bottom line, when you sign up, in the comments you can put your request, or you can send a PM to this account and we will do what we can

If you have signed up as a captain I'm more than happy to try and match you with a co-captain that you have worked with before. Again, just send a PM or put it in your comments

88432 I can only assume all these goodreads errors are creating the issue for you with the link (as originally I copied and pasted that post from the 2016 post ; and then edited with the new links). So if anyone else has the same problem, the link to the 2017 sign up s/sheet is:

IT'S A PERKS CONNECTED READ-A-THON

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

As a group let's see what we can read in the month of January and have a Read-A-Thon with a twist!

How this works...

* Each book needs to "connect" to the last one posted

* "Connects" can be based on by genre, author, title, character names, colour of cover, same award won or number of pages

* As soon as you have a book that you have read in Sept 2015 that can connect to the last one, post it with the reasons it "connects" and the running tally for you, and for the group for the month, and let's see how many books we can read and connect in the month!

EXAMPLE

Post 1:
Kristie posts:
Mr. Mercedes (Bill Hodges Trilogy, #1) by Stephen King Mr. Mercedes
Kristie's tally - 1 book
Perks Group tally - 1 book

Post 2:
Karen Posts
The Girl Who Saved the King of Sweden by Jonas Jonasson The Girl Who Saved the King of Sweden
Connected by: "King" (author and then title)
Karen's tally: 1 book
Perks group tally: 2 books

Post 3:
Kristie posts:
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (Millennium, #1) by Stieg Larsson The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
Connected by: Cover colour is yellow
Kirstie's tally: 2 books
Perks group tally: 3 books

.... hopefully you get the idea....

NOTE: You can read any book of any length, children's books and graphic novels also count. Please just remember to check the tally of the book ahead of you and add up the tally as you post

Books need to be marked as "read" between Jan 1 and Jan 30. (It doesn't matter when you started)
