8565 Thanks, Cluckingbell, Jayme, and Tien!
I also like the mix that you came up with between the three of you. It will be difficult to narrow it down to just one of each set :)

8565 Thanks, Susan - now I think I am clear about what I need to know.

And yes, I've also sometimes re-started a book, when I hadn't read very far, and that has been helpful for challenges.

I've also started my own personal "finish 'em" challenge where I pick one book from a "finish 'em" shelf I created, to focus on finishing in a given month (or at least make progress in the book if it is really long - currently working on The Way of Kings - a book of 1007 pages, which I started in 2016.) The personal challenge gives me a "reason" to keep reading and finish the books even if I can't use the books for any group's challenges.
Which is a little bit sad, that I need a reason to read the book other than that I'm reading a good book that I'm interested in - but, that's ok - lol

Anyway, thanks for the answers to my questions!

8565 Sorry, I'm back with one more question, similar topic.
It matters because I tend to start books for various reasons (group read, challenges) and then don't finish them quickly but do sometimes come back and finish them later (like, later in the year.)

So, a different scenario from the one above - let's say it's August, and I land on the Pick-a-Shelf: Our 10th Anniversary Theme Park space - and I have to go outside of my Bookopoly shelf to be able to complete a task. Can I choose a book I might happen to be currently reading, that's not on my Bookopoly shelf, that was started after 2017-Dec-01? Or do I need to choose a book that I have not started yet?

Thanks for your patience with my questions. Just trying to get it figured out how my participation in the challenge will mesh with the way I plan my reading - and make sure I'm not breaking the rules :)

8565 Thanks, Tien!

8565 I want to understand better how the rules work with regard to start date for books - especially in the case of books which we've placed on our Bookopoly shelf that we might start reading for challenges other than Bookopoly prior to using the book for a Bookopoly task.

"Scenario" 1: We roll prior to 2017-Dec-01 and plan books for our initial spaces on the board. Is it correct that we should not start reading those books prior to 2017-Dec-01 ?

"Scenario" 2: Let's say it's March and we've been playing the game for a while and I decide to start reading Timebound from my Bookopoly shelf for a challenge for the AMMP group. For the purposes of this question let's say it doesn't fit any of my current tasks for Bookopoly. So I start it and get the first chapter read. Then let's say I switch gears and work on my Bookopoly tasks and then am in a position to plan my next book for Bookopoly. Do I need to first remove "Timebound" from my Bookopoly shelf at that point because I've already started reading it outside of the Bookopoly game? Or is it an eligible choice for me if it fits my next Bookopoly task?

Thanks in advance for the clarification!

8565 Please sign me up. I've created a shelf; it will need more work; for now it's kind of skewed to the "quick read" side (not a lot of pages per book) ; before starting to play, I'll adjust so that it fits better for the game.

8565 The above is not my final post for the Readathon. It's still morning of 19th November here where I live. I have some books that I've read parts of this week, but have not yet finished ( I usually have multiple books "going" at the same time.) So, I'll post one more time once I see what additional pages I get read today.

This has been a lot of fun so far! :)
