Nine Kinds of Naughty - Jeanette Grey

*4 STARS*

I picked up this book not knowing that it was part of a series, but I had read a previous book by this author and enjoyed it so much that I jumped at the chance to read something by her again. I am happy to say that NINE KINDS OF NAUGHTY did not disappoint. With it's perfect balance of story, romance and sexy times, I was captivated from beginning to end.

This is the story of Lexie Bellamy and Dane Huntley. Lexie is a corporate executive in her family's company and Dane is her assistant...her really hot assistant. Lexie has been involved with a coworker before and it didn't turn out well at all, so she knows that Dane is strictly off limits.

When a business trip puts them in close quarters, things heat up and a world that Lexie never knew she was meant for is opened up for her. Dane shows her his dominant side and she quickly finds she wants to submit to him.

And while she is in charge at work, she's more than happy to let him be in charge in bedroom. But, what happens when they have to go back to real life?

So, yeah, this was not what I was expecting at all, but that's ok because NINE KINDS OF NAUGHTY was a little slice of BDSM heaven. There wasn't anything heavy in this book, so it more BDSM-lite, but I loved Dane's brand of loving dominance. It was totally swoon worthy. And it completely fit with the story.

My heart really went out to Dane though, he was having a rough time and thought that he had found his solace in Lexie. But then things went south and he was alone again. It was terrible and I wanted to strangle Lexie. He didn't handle things the best either but I thought she was being very unreasonable. It really is my only complaint about the story.

But, the fact that I had such strong opinions about this is really just a testament of how invested I got in the story. The characters and the writing made it impossible for me not to get sucked in.

NINE KINDS OF NAUGHTY is the third book in the Art of Passion Series, but the first two books are about another couple so this one can easily be read as standalone. I didn't feel like I was missing anything by not having read the first two books. I think I will go back and read them when I get the chance though because now I'm curious about how that couple got together. Jeanette Grey is not an author I have a ton of familiarity with, but I'm 2 for 2 with her books now, and I'm interested in seeing if I can keep up the trend.

8565 Katie, I read Lost Lake too!

I finished this on on 2/3 and I have to say that what I like about this author's writing is that she is able to put the "magic" in the story in a kind of way that makes you see things in your own life that could have a bit of magic to them. That feeling you get when something is about to go wrong. Or that sense that you get when you know a moment is going to be important in your life for some reason.

I enjoyed the characters the most. The story was OK, but the characters made this one for me. Kate, Devon, Eby, Wes, Beulah Dean, Selma, Lisette. All of them. They were quite the motley crew but they also really seemed to fit. And I don't think the story would have been the same if even one of them had not been there or a different type of character.

I didn't LOVE this one the way I have other of this author's books, but I really did enjoy it. I'm looking forward to reading more of her stuff.

Thanks, Katie. I think I'll go with Rookie Move. I really want to read One Fell Sweep, but it's not out on audio yet and I love Rene Raudman doing the series. It won't feel right without her. So, Sarina Bowen it is!!

thanks!!

Dirty (Dive Bar, #1) by Kylie Scott Dirty completed 2/5/17

Sometimes, you need to get a little dirty... Dirty (Dive Bar) - Kylie Scott

I was so excited that Kylie Scott was starting a new series, and DIRTY did not disappoint. Lydia and Vaughan were so great together that I was able to easily put aside my reservations about the whole insta-love thing that was going on. I do wish their relationship had been developed a bit more before they had their HEA, but I still really enjoyed it.

I loved everyone associated with the Dive Bar. Nell, John, Pat, Eric...all of them were just great icing on the my already delicious cake. I can't wait to see more of those guys in future books.

And I have to make note of the fact that Vaughan was indeed dirty--deliciously so. He was so good with he sexy times that seriously, I'm not sure how Lydia was able to hold off on jumping his bones as long as she did.

I listened to this one on audio and my girl Andi Arndt owned the narration on this one. I love her and she really brought this one to life for me.

So, I guess it's obvious that I'll be continuing on with this series. I can't wait to see what everyone will get up to next.

Going with Rookie Move (Brooklyn Bruisers, #1) by Sarina Bowen Rookie Move completed 2/18/17 *4 STARS*

CUTE!

Rookie Move - Sarina Bowen

I didn't go gaga over this like I did with the IVY YEARS series, but I thought it was cute. I'm a sucker for second chance romance and I was glad to see that Georgia and Leo got a shot to be together again.

I was a little ticked at her for almost screwing it all up...AGAIN, but I was glad that Leo was so freakin focused on not letter her get away for a second time.

I enjoyed the other characters and hope to get to know them better. I even hope to see Silas again. He got a bum wrap at the end. I'm thinking that there may be something between Becca, Georgia's roommate, and Nate, the team's owner. I look for more clues to that in the next book.

I listened to this one on audio and it was done by two new to me narrators. I thought they did a great job.
