Suspense
Broken (Broken Trilogy, #1) by J.L. Drake Broken (shelved suspense 10 times) completed 12/17/16 *3.5 STARS*

I had some serious complaints about this book. I didn't like the writing style. It switches from first person to third. And for some the non-use of contractions really irked my nerves. But there was thing that I couldn't deny...the story had me gripped. I did like the story and I will likely continue on.

8565 Ok, I got it! Thanks. I think I'm going to enjoy this one!
Dec 11, 2016 02:25PM

8565 Thanks. So, Ok, I hope I'm understanding this correctly.

So, each month we get letters
and with those letters we try to fill up the card as much as possible?

Also, you say And just to clarify, no crossovers between shelves. What does that mean? Does that mean that you can't use the same book for A - adult, and B - BDSM in the same month? Or that you can't use A-adult in Jan and A-adult in February using the same book?

I hope that makes sense.
Dec 11, 2016 02:15PM

8565 This sounds like a really cool challenge. I just have some questions as I've never played scattergories before. Is this the place or will there be a Q & A thread?

Fantastic Series + Fantastic Narrator = MAGIC

Purity in Death - J.D. Robb

*4.5 STARS*

I really love this series. I love Susan Eriksen narrating it even more. This whole concept of the Purity Seekers was eerie and so fitting even for today. It was interesting. People thinking that they have the right of it and go out and make their own justice.Eve's sense of right and wrong was really pushed to her limit here. I know how hard the case must have been. She couldn't have been too fond of the people that were being targeted but because she does her job, she put those feelings aside to catch the killers.

Then there was Mavis's big news! Totally MAG!

Add to that, McNabb and Peabody's issues during the book, and this one was great.

I can't wait to continue with this series.

Thanks for the quick response. You picked three great ones. Now I don't know which one to choose. I just finished The Shameless Hour and I know The Fifteenth Minute is the last book in the series, so maybe I'll wait on that one.

I've heard a lot of good things about The Hook Up, I wish is was on audio.

The Chemist is one I've been curious about too.

So, I'm going to think on it and then come back and tell you. LOL

ETA: I've thought about it. I'm going to go with The Hook Up. I'm more in that kind of mood.

Thanks!

Picks by Catherine:

Waistcoats & Weaponry
Landline
The Viscount Who Loved Me

I pick Waistcoats & Weaponry (Finishing School, #3) by Gail Carriger Waistcoats & Weaponry completed 12/26/16 *5 STARS*

Oh Sophronia!
Waistcoats & Weaponry - Gail Carriger

I just adore this series and this book was no different. There was so much happening in this third book of the Finishing School Series, it was like something new with every page. It kept me engaged and definitely kept me guessing. I have to admit that I didn't get the plot right. I was way off base. But, it was fun trying to figure it all out.

We have some members of the "team" moving on at the end of this book and some who we are quite sure of at this point. I can't wait to see what's going to happen in the next book. I for one am kind of rooting for the more unconventional relationship in all of this.

I've continued to listen to this series on audio and Moira Quirk is amazing. I can't imaging not listening to it. The delivery is perfect, and I could never do her characters justice in my head.

Cute...but frustrating

The Hook Up (Game On) (Volume 1) - Kristen Callihan

This one was cute, but, it frustrated me how little the two of the them talk which of course led to their break up. I think they still would have broken up but Anna didn't let Drew know her at all it seemed.

Otherwise, I really enjoyed this and really look forward to continuing the series.
