SLEDDING

Pick by Larula:

Even the Score by Beth Ehemann Even the Score 7/29/17

*4 STARS*

I thought this was cute even though I knew who was behind the stalking early on. I really liked Danicka and Andy together. The kids were all kinds of awesome, and I even liked Andy's friends. I am going to have to read other books by this author to get some of the back story on them.

8565 I finished A Walk to Remember on 7/18/17
It fits for moderate level task #3 -- the book is #9 on the Books that Made You Cry List

Liked it. *3.5 STARS*

I liked this one. I liked it more than I liked the movie I think except for one thing. I felt like the main characters Jamie and Landon had more of a connection in the movie. I just didn't see that as much in the book. I did feel more hopeful at the end of the book than I did in the movie, however, I was still bawling my eyes out.

8565 I read A Walk to Remember and gave it *4 STARS*.

I saw the movie of this book first and that's way I prefer to do things if there is a book/movie combo. There were many things that were different between the book and the movie, but the nice thing was that since it's been so long since I've seen the movie, I didn't spend the entire book comparing the two.

I think I may have liked the book more than the movie which is saying a lot when reading a Nicholas Spark book as he is definitely not my favorite, but I really liked this one. Especially the last line because it left the ending open.

ETA: I choose The Diary of a Superfluous Man and Other Stories, since it fits the Christmas in July challenge :D"

I was thinking that. I just did a random.org number generator to get the picks, but when it came up for that one, I was thinking that it would work nicely for that task.

I read this one recently, and just loved it so much. Ove kind of reminded me of my Dad.

8565 If I know that the book is a movie, I will watch the movie first. The movie very rarely does the book justice. The one exception of that that I can think of is Bridget Jones's Diary.

I really loved the movie but couldn't stand the book

8565 I read Sweet Tea and Secrets (*3 STARS*) on 6/21/17, it was ok. I tried to not be as harsh because it was more preachy than books I'm used to reading, but it an easy read. Very predictable but that wasn't necessarily a bad thing.

I also read Riveted (*4 STARS*) this month on 6/2/17. It's not on a "southern" shelf but the majority of it was set in Mississippi. It was an enjoyable read but I have few problems with it. It didn't mess with my enjoyment of the story, I just had a few things in the back of my mind about the lack of black representation in a book where the main character was half black.
