Joanna, here are some that I enjoyed and, since they are series...well, they might help you out there.

Tears of the Giraffe
The A.B.C. Murders
Allegiant

8565 (view spoiler)

I have 76 pages to go to finish Part I, Lusie. Coralie, how are you doing?
Feb 05, 2020 08:31AM

8565 Lusie, I had planned it out to read x number of pages a day throughout the 7 days partly due to the fact that, when I started reading, I had 5 other books in progress...and one was an 800+ page book that I had started 12/1/19.

I have now completed 3 of those 5 and am close to completing another (the 800+ one) BUT I have started a buddy read with Marina for this prompt also.

It surprised me how easy it was to get back into the series. I'm already at chapter 27 and am surprised how fast I'm reading."

You are ahead of me...I will be at 24 when I finish today's reading. (I do have a total of 3 books over 800 pages going...two for Buddy Reads!)

Nope! LOL. For me, though, it is the intimidating size of the book!

Thanks, Marina. BTW, it's been 3 years for me.

btw I discovered that Oathbringer is listed 14 times as speculative fiction. So if we can finish it this month we can use it for the february shelf :)"

Nice!

I also am enjoying this book. Usually such big books take a bit for me to get into them, but not this one.

Sure. I can try. I might be running a few pages behind by next week, but I should be able to catch up quickly by the second week as I will be finishing off 5 books this week. And, one of them has been a BIG BOOK that I have been reading since 12/1/19.

(Added dates to schedule.)

8565 LASD and Krysta, you are both added to the list in post #2.

8565 I've set up a 4 week schedule in post #1. Now all we need to decide is a start date.

I hope to be able to start reading today. I read book 1 and 2 at the same time as you, Bea. So I imagine I'll not recall everything either."

Lusie, there are reminders in the text so that, for me, the recall did start.

Thanks, Lusie. This was helpful. I did find that I began to recall events and nod to myself as I started reading, although I must admit to sharing Coralie's response. I mean it has been almost 2 years since I last read one of these books!

Oh, shoot, Marina. I was waiting for you to say and see that you were waiting on me.

Are you doing any other Big Book reads? I just started one today.

I see we are doing it in 4 weeks. Would you want to start tomorrow or in a week? Dang, so sorry that I dropped the ball on setting this one up with you.

BTW, I have the book out of the library...I can renew it once more and have it for a total of 6 weeks. First due date: 2/17/20, so I would at least like to start reading by next week, if possible.

8565 Get ready...set...go read! Prologue + Part I. BTW, my copy starts on page 19...so even the book is helping us to get this first part done!
