Also, if it's a series with completed books and wip books, do I put wip? Also do I add the whole series or just the first book in the series?
Okay, so, what's your definition of 'fantasy' within the group? Are m/m webcomics classed as 'slash'? Actually that shelf is really sparsely populated, why is that?
Is admitting that something is a wip by putting it on the wip shelf in this group asking for trouble?
I shall guard it fiercely. And okay I'll join the group. Is "Marleen told me to" a good reason for joining? Too late if it's not.
This one's on its own website I think... no reviews! Also then I have to think of nice things to say to counter my criticism and I'm lazy.
I think it would be best to have the author under his actual name, because then it will be listed with his other projects.
You don't make the rules, you just quietly don't enforce them :)One of Jesse's books is published under his real name, so there's definitely no issue there. Rah also goes by a variety of usernames on other sites, but I think that's just because that's what's done on most websites. Her real name is listed on her Deviantart.
If it hasn't been rec'd, you should rec it!I got side tracked from reading when I was doing comm stuff, so I still need to get back to reading the anth. And the other thing I started reading that I wasn't that keen on because typos. I wish all online fiction was hosted somewhere like gdocs so I could highlight typos/grammatical errors and leave notes. I'd feel so much better.
Hmm... hard to say whether to include pseudonyms, and if yes which. Probably not Chartreuse, because that's only really associated with Metanoia and it's not something he goes by anymore. Maybe JumpingJackFlash? He uses that for both Fictionpress and I think AO3, so more people might know his screen name than his real name in certain places.Hopefully Metanoia manages to fly under their radar.
Goodreads says we've read only a few of the same things and your feelings on most of them were somewhere between ambivalent and negative. So idk, have you read the Shadow of the Templar series?
Yeah, I've seen some fanfic too.Oh, and Marleen, the real name of the artist who does Metanoia is Sarah Cloutier. I forgot to put that in.
Goodreads is pretty good for recs, though less so for free stuff. I'm enjoying playing around with it, anyway.
Thanks! They are by him, he just goes by various different usernames in different places.
If goodreads doesn't want unpublished webcomics, what about online fiction? Seems like it's essentially the same deal. Of course, I wouldn't be surprised if they felt the same way about those, but if they do I hope they don't go so far as to try and crack down on it. There's some great unpublished stuff.
I'm really not into straight up romance. Sci fi and fantasy are much more interesting. There are some really great stories you can get for free, and some really awful ones you have to pay to read. Guess it's about picking the best from both piles, which isn't always easy.
I think they can be very different types of stories, like slash vs. gay literature or whatever. Don't know what the proper terms are. Also perhaps because some people don't buy books, just rely on free online stuff. I admit I probably haven't heard of a lot of the mainstream stuff. My interests are rather narrow.
I'm not sure I'm very good at harassment! Problem, problem.Okay things:

Just move the links to the proper places if you don't mind. Thanks :)
Yeah, I applied a few days ago but still no response. I gave in and put the links in the descriptions. Must be extra annoying if you're an author and it's your own stuff you need to edit.
Well, the ones that were already on goodreads have their links so that's fine. I just added a few books to goodreads as well, so I'll need to either find a librarian or become one myself to add their links in.
The bookshelf now has all the books that were rec'd on the LJ group, or at least all of the ones that were on goodreads. They are categorised for your convenience! All the shelves except the 'read' one say 0 but that's a lie, there's stuff there if you click 'em. Please let me know if you find any errors or if you want to heap praise on me for a job well done.
