By the supreme powers of comoderator of the first-order, I confirm Huon of the Horn starved enough for Dan and the rest of us.

Actually, for any other people thinking about what is review-starved, don't dwell too long. The ~15 review definition was just a suggestion. Go with your gut...and review.

80482 CT, thanks for joining in. For new Witcher readers, should they start with the The Last Wish? Or is there another book toy would suggest later in the series?

80482 Joseph, thanks for sharing the review. Throne of Bones deserves more reads/reviews; it was award winning but remains fairly obscure.

80482 All,
I enjoy the titles being considered so far:
The Baalbak Quest
Second Cataclysm
Zorachus

The Baalbak Quest by David J. Kelly Second Cataclysm (The Cult of Yex Saga, #1) by Jason F. Smith Zorachus by Mark E. Rogers

BTW, I'm 50% into The Shadow Cycles

Cool. I likewise enjoyed Throne of Bones. It is ceriianly uniquely weird.

Lots of established and aspiring authors here, Hope some can help keep you off the fork lift.

Anyway, this thread also a sub folder just for Editors that it would be good to repost this. Otherwise, I may add another link to ensure browsers of the folders find it.

80482 Funny. Sounds like we may hear about the rogue next group read. Have you already read them?

I liked this review, Derek. I've played D&D, but never read any of Gygax's books.

Wow Jack, that is one hell of a link. I would argue that is required reading for anyone here....and perhaps even a good one to send to lure people in. I didn't know the series has been around since the early 1990's (quote below from intro.).

That site has a great How-to-Read the whole series as you say. Even a nice map.

Although English-speaking familiarity with The Witcher books has only largely come about due to the success of the Witcher video games, they’ve actually been around since the early 90’s. The first stories set in the Witcher universe — dubbed Wiedźmin in Polish — were written by Andrzej Sapkowksi for the Polish science fiction and fantasy magazine Fantastyka (in fact, Sapkowski wrote the very first short story for a competition for the magazine in the mid 1980s), where many premiere Polish writers of science fiction and fantasy cut their teeth.

80482 Lol. Early 80's. They were table top warfare and D and D campaign resources. The skeleton giant and throne of bones ... And skeletal centaurs are my favorites.

80482 I haven't played the video games, but the gameplay looks pretty cool, balancing stamina vs attacks. Was going to save my money for Massive Darkness (a zombicide Rpg coming soon)

80482 ****Clarification:, just added to the initial post*****
Suggested Books:
(1) look at your current TBR list, and check out the Goodreads reviews. Many of the classics have surprising little reviews.
(2) ditto for your already-read list. Even if you read a book last year, but review it now...that works. Just chime in and share a link.
(3) New books count too. Initial reviews that help subsequent readers is helpful.

Keep in mind this group is mostly aspiring or published authors...and are starving for food and reviews, and we have a different folder for promotions. This is not the Promotional Folder. If your book is starved please post a note there : Promotional Folder Link

David, so the first novel didn't contain the short stories? Can you explain for us newbies?

80482 Andrzej Sapkowski's Witcher series helped spawn the video games (or so I am told). Translated into many languages as well, this contemporary series has sparked interest recently. Let's learn about it.

80482 Find and review any review-starved books. This means any Sword & Sorcery related book with less than ~12 reviews. Having reviews helps others learn about the genre.

Example. I am reading The Shadow Cycles by Philip Emery whom I discovered by reading his short stories in Rogue Blade Entertainment's anthologies like Return of the Sword.
