@Seth. I have Conan the Barbarian Omnibus 3, with Roy Thomas’s Barbarian Life volume 2 waiting in the wings.

Not S&S, but for a great, imaginative Fantasy, I recommend Piranesi.

@Richard, I scored an advanced digital copy. It should be out early March. I don’t buy too many physical copies of books, but I want a copy of that beauty.

Renegade Swords II from DMR press.

As a 10 year old boy that was into Metal and D&D, it was those Savage Sword of Conan comics that hooked me. I was a Conan fan, but did not become an REH fan until I was in my 30’s and got my hands on those wonderful Del Reys. I’m now pushing 50 and I am still discovering treasures that are old now, but were not all that old when I was in my reading prime. I read much science fiction and horror, but ignored fantasy as my experience with fantasy was Brooks, Eddings and others that eventually I tired of and left.

@David. Thank you. I will look into those.

Making my way through Savage Scrolls.
“Born of the Serpent” by David C Smith. A new Oron tale! It’s an adventure filled tale that has shadows of Kull.
“Under the Basilisk Moon” by Fred Blosser. Savage Scrolls opened with an Elak story by Adrian Cole. Cole’s Elak stories are gaining lots of traction with S&S readers. Fred Blosser brings another Henry Kuttner hero to life, Prince Raynor. I’m not a huge fan of Cole’s Elak stories, but I enjoyed Blosser’s Raynor story. I’ve read a good bit of Blosser’s non-fiction. It was refreshing to read his fiction. I hope he does more of these.
Side note, soon I need to re-read Kuttner’s Elak and Raynor stories. I have a volume that collects them all from Paizos Planet Stories series.

@Joy, no, but in my opinion neither was the Scar. It’s still Mievlle, and to be honest, if he wrote a book about tax law, I would probably give it a shot

Mostly reading RPG stuff right now. I’m starting a new game Sunday. When not reading that, I’m making my way through China Mieville’s Iron Council. Soon, I will get back to Savage Scrolls for the group read.

@Jason, I DNF’d Barbarian Crowns II.

I owe another for this latest issue

So far for this group read, I have read Tales From the Magician’s Skull #5, Whetstone #2 and I am now one story deep into Savage Scrolls. Anthologies and zine reading are my favorite consumables.
@Seth, I’m always hesitant to read stuff by people I know, it’s a deep rooted fear that is typically preceded by “please subscribe to my poetry blog”; however, I enjoyed your short story in Whetstone, and overcame my apprehension. I plan on reading more of your stuff.

I’m in a bit of a rut right now. I can’t seem to focus on much. (I’m fine, just winter/Covid lassitude). I’m picking at Whetstone #2 for the group read, averaging one or two stories a day (one most days). Other than that, I’m reading stuff for Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 4th edition. I loath virtual campaigns, but I need a creative and fun outlet to beat this funk. On deck, I have Savage Scrolls.

@J.W. Flame & Crimson was my favorite read of 2020. Enjoy!

Read and reviewed issue 5 of Tales from the Magician’s Skull.

I jumped into issue 5 of TftMS today. I’m down for Appendix N, but it’s not being released until late February (I didn’t order the limited edition cover, which I think came out earlier). I will join late in that discussion. I do plan on reading Whetstone #2 this month as well.

@The Joy of E
The Sword and Sorcery Anthology is an excellent pick. I read it last year. Nothing wrong with “oldies, but goldies”

@Jason, I’ve found ebooks of the Kane stuff (most, not all), but now I really want to read his horror. I have encountered a good many anthologies with KEW’s stuff out in the wilds, but not even close to all.

I watched The Last Wolf this morning, it is well worth the watch, but now I really wish KEW’s stuff was easier to put my hands on.

@Seth, nicely done
