"Don't tell me you didn't submit anything dude, how am I supposed to judge your tragic taste in music?" The grin on Peter's face making clear he was joking with Ambrose. He had known him long enough that if their music tastes weren't compatible they would've gotten in more than enough fights. That was what was so great about Ambrose, he really did get Peter when it came to music. It was why they were thinking of forming a band. And also that the idea of having a band was just too cool for Peter to handle. He didn't have a clue of what needed to be done to have a band, get gigs, make music. But he knew that music made him happy. And also he's a pretty decent piano player, so there's that.

He nodded as Ellie spoke. "Oh you're a dancer! That's cool!" He said, wondering how someone who seemed so shy would be on stage. Then again, people changed when they were on stage, he bet that many musicians were very different off stage. In that case maybe it was that Ellie just needed to find the right person to feel comfortable. It was really more unconscious than conscious, but in that moment he made a personal promise to get Ellie to that point. Everyone needed friends. Peter knew that better than anyone. "Do you dance ballet, or...?"

Lena turned back at him and rolled her eyes. "Well I didn't say this was going to be easy, did I?" She placed her hand on her hip. "Look at what I do, but then it's going to be your turn, ok?" She hardly waited for his response before walking off toward the nearest waiter.

She knew most of the service was being relaxed with carding, seeing as it was New Year's and all, but she also didn't want her night cut short and end in the police station. She knew that she couldn't just get drinks, she wanted to get a whole bottle. She wanted to test Hunter, and maybe test him a little. She saw a young man working at one edge of the bar, the entrance open enough for her to sneak a bottle or two. She walked swinging her hips lightly, taking a deep breath and focusing on the bartender's eyes, feeling her skin getting slightly hotter. She gave him her best flirty smile when she arrived. Lena felt a little bad, like she was cheating by using her power, but the moment she saw the guy's eyes dart towards her cleavage, her doubts dissipated. She didn't force them to think something they weren't already thinking. Lena twirled her hair as she spoke with the bartender, slowly moving toward the entrance until she was so close to him she felt his hands wander toward her lower back.

That's when she snatched the bottle of vodka, whispering an empty promise of late night delights and darting back to the table she shared with Hunter.
"See?" She said, setting the bottle on the table as she sat down. "Easy." Lena raised her eyebrows as she opened the bottle. "Now your turn."

Dallas comment made her pause for a second, and look at the ground before squeezing his arm again. There was the pull at her heartstrings again. It still seemed so unreal, to talk of her as if they weren't going to see her again, because they weren't. As if she wasn't going to be waiting for them at home with her signature pies, because she wasn't. As if they weren't going home, because really, they weren't. There was nothing to go back to. Sometimes, like today, it didn't feel real. Like she would suddenly wake up and everything would be a dream: her mom would be alive and cooking breakfast while Dallas set the table. Sometimes she felt she would open a door and there she would be, standing and wondering how Angela could think she could abandon her.

Everything in Angela's life had changed so fast, she hadn't had enough time to process it all. Her mom, the light in her life besides Dallas, gone, and then her decision on a whim to follow Dallas to Warwick. She still didn't know the town at all, having arrived only a couple of days before. She just had had time to see where Dallas lived and worked, but she couldn't find her way around, much less meet anyone. "You need to show me more of Warwick," she said, tracing her fingers down the books in a nearby bookcase. "I want to know everything about it."

Adam took a sip of his drink but laughed when she spoke, and in his chortle spit out a little of his drink. He might be twenty one, but at that point he was sure he looked sixteen. Which sometimes he felt like, honestly. That overshadowed sixteen year old who absolutely hated being home because there was nothing worse than having your dad compare you to your brother for what it seemed like 24/7. Oh and of course there was the belittling because of his belief in the supernatural. Fun times.

He cleaned his mouth with a napkin. "Sorry for that projectile, I promise I'm not usually...like that," He said, still laughing a little as he shook her hand. "Nice to meet you Aria, I'm Adam Newton." He took another swig of his drink before shaking his head. Maybe that drink was a bit too strong for him. "Croft, your name sounds familiar..." He knew he had seen her face, or maybe heard her voice somewhere before. Maybe they had gone to school together, which was the most likely. Warwick was pretty small after all.

Peter nodded as she spoke. "Ah, that'd be great, thanks Ellie! I swear I'm not usually in desperate need of help, but stats this year is killing me." He continued, easily taking over the conversation, as he often did. He did feel a bit better that she seemed even a bit more comfortable. Ambrose mentioned he found her alone, which in Peter's book was never fun. He knew he was way more extroverted than many of his peers, and he knew that particularly because the idea of enjoying his time alone was alien to him. Especially recently, with the weird feeling in his stomach, and desire to go to the woods. No. He was much happier in between the crowds, music ringing in his ears.

"But we're not here for school, right?" He snorted, noticing Ambroce's wince on the corner of his eye. "Dude," he elbowed his friend "I hear today's DJ is pretty good, hopefully they're playing our song recommendations. What did you submit?" He turned to Ellie. "Oh, Ellie, what kind of music are you into?" he found the question often revealed a lot about a person, especially one he had just met. Music was pretty much Peter's life, and he loved hearing other's people's tastes and discovering new music.

As they sat down Lena let the cut from her dress reveal her leg, and she crossed her arms on the table, chuckling at Hunter's comment. "I can make you keep up boy scout," She said. Her green eyes scanned the room as he spoke. Man, Hunter was genuinely worried about what she was going to make him do. At the beginning of the night she was just planning on getting him drunk or something, but now she felt like she had to live up to Hunter's dangerous expectations. Not that that disappointed her in the least. In fact, she was looking forward to it.

"Well I have some ideas," She said, turning to him. "But first the basics: we're gonna get drinks." She turned back to the room, her eyes scanning for a bar or a waiter. She smiled when she found what she was looking for, and turned back to Hunter. "We're both going to get drinks and meet back here, and please Hunter," she said before standing up. "Nothing tame, alright?"

It wasn't the first time Adam had gone to the new year's ball, but it was the first time he didn't go with his family or friends. He knew some people from the newspaper were getting together to go as a group, but as an intern, he wasn't sure if he was welcome to tag along. Everyone had been really welcoming, but he didn't want to overstep his boundaries. After all, he was able to obtain one of the few paid positions, and he didn't want to do anything to put that at risk. It wasn't a great pay, but it was enough for Adam to cover his rent and basic necessities, which was more than enough for him. Living on his own was much better than the constant fighting with his parents over his claims of the supernatural in Warwick. Adam was tired of being belittled and ignored.

He hoped he wouldn't bump into either of his parents or his brother tonight. He wasn't ready for that confrontation honestly, and so he approached the bar, as he knew no one in his family was much of a drinker. He was of age, but still felt a little nervous when asking for a drink, as if someone had lied to him all his life and he was actually underage. But the bartender didn't even look at him twice before placing the drink in front of him, running around with orders. Adam turned to the brunette next to him and raised his glass. "Here's to no checking ID's, right?"

Lena had gone to the ball with a date a couple of times since the curse took over her, but nobody like Hunter. Nobody who was a friend, and who she wasn't actually supposed to have sex with by the end of the night. She reminded herself that she wasn't here to satisfy her needs, that she was actually there to help him let loose for once, without the watchful eye of his parents. But then again, Hunter looked amazing in the tuxedo, and the night was young.

Lena turned to him and nodded. They were going to need a place to pause between dances and drinks. She knew the underage drinking was rampant and a little unsupervised that night, but getting Hunter arrested wasn't in the plans. "It looks like all Warwick is here," she said, stretching her neck to look around for seats, and when she saw ones she pulled his arm a little to direct him toward them. "But I'm warning you, we're not staying seated long." She said with a playful smile in her red lips.

Peter looked up from his phone as soon as he heard his friend call his name, and gave him a huge smile. "Hey what's up Ambrose?" Ambrose had been one of his closest friends for years, especially because of the music thing. Peter was usually a chill guy, but when it came to music he turned into a very intense and overexcited puppy, and Ambrose was one of the few people that could put up with that. They had been talking about starting a band, but hadn't arrived at anything concrete. He moved away from the wall he was leaning into and waved, reaching out to greet him and give him a fist bump. "What took you so long?"

When he spoke he turned to the shorter girl, and smiled again. Peter had seen Ellie around, she seemed to be quiet and have few friends, and was a little surprised she actually went to the ball. In any case, he reached out to shake her hand. "I'm Peter Stratford, Pete or Peter works honestly" he began, his usual talkative self "Nice to meet you formally Ellie, you're in our stats class, right? Man, I'm doing so bad in that class, what about you?" He hoped that she didn't feel intimidated by them, and by starting with a school topic, neutral ground, he could make her a little more comfortable in their presence.

If he regretted following his brother and friends to the ball, it was too late for Danny to back out now. He was there, suit and tie and everything, his hands on his pockets as to avoid fixing his hair one more time. Massive social events like this one weren't exactly Danny's specialty, this was more of a Jamie thing, but his brother did have a point when he said this was a once a year thing, that there were so many people nobody would even notice them really, and that the food was going to be amazing. Danny wasn't a drinker like many of Jamie's friends, but he could smell the dessert bar from the lobby, and he was ready for it.

Jamie and Danny hadn't really talked about the "argument" they had, but enough time had passed that Jamie wasn't being rude or snappy at Danny, and he thought that the invitation to the ball basically cemented the truce between them. Danny didn't want to argue anymore, but at some point the college conversation would come again, and they would have to have it out.

But for now, the music was loud and the party was just starting.

(view spoiler)

Lena's black heels made her feel powerful. She wasn't short per se, but she wasn't very tall either, and the clicking sound they made against the marble floor, even though it wasn't as loud as to go above the noisy ballroom, was enough to make her feel like a movie star.

She also felt like a movie star arm in arm with Hunter, who despite her heels was still taller than him, in his suit and bow tie. She wore a floor-length black dress with a cut down her leg, and a laced corset over black tulle, that left some things up to the imagination. She knew her mother and grandmother would not dare to leave the house in a day like this. Unlike the youngest Murdock, they restricted social interaction to a minimum, as to avoid their succubus temptations reign wild. Lena was not that uptight.

Angela was marveled at the massive gala Warwick had put up for new year's eve. She was enchanted by the small town from the moment she had set foot in it, but this event really blew her mind. She had never attended any sort of ball before, prom in her old school was greatly underwhelming compared to this, and going with Dallas was only the cherry on top. She had missed her dear brother so much since their father had thrown him out. She had wanted to go with him for so long, but knew that she couldn't leave their mother with that monster of a father, and she wasn't in danger of being thrown out. Angela hadn't even seen him in all those years, afraid to leave her home and be dragged back by the hair, and their only contact had been online. But then the Santos matriarch had passed, and Angela found no reason to stay behind.

"This is beautiful," she gasped at the sight of the magnificent library in the castle. With her pink tulle dress, she felt like a Disney princess in a ball: the ball, the place, the dress, her brother by her side, it all seemed like a dream, too good to be true. She squeezed Dallas' arm before looking at the bookcase in front of him. "It's unbelievable."
