I need to look at this again. I read it a year or two ago - I din't love it at the time - I remember I liked it better once Rawlin's tough guy buddy comes back for the second half.
Well, so this week we get, 'A Flash of Green' in a bit shit shocker! Also Kurt reads Frank Bill - I didn't enjoy Donnybrook myself, but maybe I read the wrong book.

Episode 15 is up. What I love about Point Blank is that authenticity where you never know about the books because Justin and Kurt are discovering stuff for themselves too. Episode 15 sees a lukewarm reception for Flash of Green by John MacDonald, but the discussion is engaging as always, and to be honest, bad books that authors love are right up my street - I'm more tempted than I was before.
I'm reading the new Joe Ide novel, 'Wrecked' . I love the IQ novels but it does feel as though Ide feels he has to make each book 'bigger' than the last, but I'm lovin' it still.
According to Amazon it's book 3, and Chuourmo is book one...Looks like that's wrong.... It is indeed Book 1
So I'm invested now...
I'll have to read it.

Kurt, have you already read the other two books, or did you go straight for Book 3?
Finished this last night. Liked it, but the ending seemed a little like it could have happened at any time - and just how laid back are the police round dem ends?
I'm at about 80%, and I like it. It's a page turner. It's more erotic romance than crime novel... How come I never met any girls like Sherri!?!?
I haven't read this one. But I'll definitely be in for The Devil in the Blue Dress. Can't wait to hear about the Flash though.
I'm kind of with you overall, Chrisopher. There were things about it I absolutely loved - like how Martin Beck always feels just a little bit under the weather, and the bit where he accepts a coffee even though he doesn't really want one. I love that. I also love the attitude of the book in a more general way, but I do agree that the middle was a bit less good than the beginning and the end.
