Currently reading Carmilla : The Wolves of Styria as I won a signed copy of The Damnation Game by this author, and I wanted to get a taste for his writing style. I'm only 100 pages in so far, and after a slow start it's starting to get intriguing.
sadly I havn't had the opportunity to travel much, but I have the desire to travel Australia at least - one day, you know, when life isn't being so difficult financially etc
I have removed the things I have done - does this make the rest my Aussie bucket list?Visited Cape York.
Walked/climbed over the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
Rode camels on the beach at Broome.
Been to Sydney’s Mardi Gras.
Been to see a game of Aussie Rules football.
Seen the Great Australian Bight in person.
Been to Perth.
Seen dinosaur footprints.
Been to Darwin.
Visted the Great Barrier Reef.
Killed a Cane Toad.
Visited Adelaide.
Visited Brisbane.
Been in an outback pub.
Visited Hobart.
Visited Canberra.
Travelled on a tram in Adelaide.
Visited Uluru.
Visited the snow.
Been to a 'Big Day Out' concert in summer.
Crossed the Nullarbor. (Flying over it in a plane doesn’t count)
Visited the outback.
Hit a kangaroo while driving.
Seen the Oils live.
Hmm - I need to travel more - I think that's what the checklist tells me.

Oh wow - someone who knows who they are, did you see Chappie? The lady from Die Antwoord loves rats too - I think she's great.
My Favourite... 1. Time of Day: Night time - I read in bed at night, once I've done what I'm going to get done for the day. Rugged up in bed with a great book is my favourite time.
2. Food: Seafood Mournay Spud
3. Drink (alcoholic or non-alcoholic): Green Caribbean from Boost - anything with real juice come to think of it.
4. Band/singer: The Cut (a local band you probably haven't heard of). The Heavy and Florence and the Machine.
5. Actor: Robin Williams
6. Spot in Australia: The beach - I've moved a lot, so any beach will do, but I love the sound of the beach.
7. Team/Sport: Hmm...pass?
8. Car: Holden Astra - but only cos I haven't had a car in 8 years so its my fav
9. Animal: Rats - pet rats NOT wild rats! Pet rats are friendly, caring and loving. I've seen rats do amazing things over the years, and proven to me they have a heart of gold.
10. Activity: Reading, riding my bike, bushwalking.
11. Things to collect: Books (although my library has dwindled since replacing them on ebook) Photos - my memory is crap, so I love to take photos to remember the time by.
12 (hehe) Weirdest thing about you: I have a condition that sometimes makes me allergic to the sun - Porphyria, it's were the vampire/werewolves legend began, as some people become allergic to the sun, some to silver - and technically this isn't the weirdest thing about me, it's just the one i'm willing to share ;)
I may just stick to ordering them in at the library, I still read "actual" books, as I love the feel, the smell. But I have issues with my hands, and I read mainly at night in bed, so the paperwhite has been a dream come true for me.Last Hero's by Terry Pratchett is so much better in real life than on the ereader.
Michael wrote: " I hope you sing the Spider Pig song with Spyder Pyg lol. :)"Naturally - every time I went near the cage, she would jump to the ceiling and start "walking/crawling" across the ceiling, and the song got stuck in my head, hence the name stuck with her.
Hello everyone - long time lurker, only recently joined :) I'm from NSW, I love to read, mainly at night when I should be sleeping. I mostly read fantasy, but also read bio, ya, horror/thriller (but no real gore).
My pets are mainly named from A Game of Thrones, with my girls being Kahleesi, Shae, Spyder Pyg (from the Simpsons) and Fingers. My boys are Ghost and Sommer (the male dire wolves). Most people say "Eww" if I mention "what" my pets are, but I love them and they are family. You can see my boys in my profile pic.
The Damnation Game by David Brian - its a thriller. And thank you - been lurking about but only recently picked a few groups to follow, decided to bite the bullet and post :)
I didn't see this on this list, so I apologise if its been done before, but I've recently moved from a Kobo to a Kindle Paperwhite, and I was wondering what other readers love or hate about their ereader. The Kobo was the smallest, cheapest I could afford at the time, and it was great, but short lived - after a year of constant abuse it gave up the ghost. I loved the fact that this Kobo fit in my pocket so easily, and was a great introduciton to ereaders.
I now have a Kobo for my son, but I have moved on to Kindle Paperwhite, as I do most of my reading late at night, and have had just about every "night light" there has been, all of which have annoyed my partner at some point.
The Kindle Paperwhite is great for late night reads, theres no strain for my eyes even if I read for a few hours, and best yet it doesn't disturb my partner. I find the larger screen size great, although it does not fit into my pocket as easily as the Kobo did.
That being said, it goes everywhere with me now. My library has slowly dwindled as they are replaced with ebook versions, and I find I love my ereader the most when I finish a book, and actually have several others I want to read already lined up on my reader. I am thinking about investing in a Kindle Fire, as I would like to read a few graphic novels in colour, as well as have an reader I can "lend" to my mum and share the latest book I've fallen in love with, has anyone had experience with the Fire? or other readers and graphic novels?
