I started reading this book, finally. I just finished chapter 3.
I like it a lot so far but
(view spoiler)[Little Mary really is so contrary. A little brat. I hate to say it, but it's true. And yet I feel sorry for her because no one in the whole world wants her or loves her. That has to hurt. I will keep reading for sure. (hide spoiler)]

I didn't manage to read much today. I'm still reading part 3. But I'll let you know after i finished reading."No rush. Take your time :)

I finally completed one lol
1/8 done.

I finished! I stayed all up all night reading just because I hoped Melinda could turn things around for herself.
(view spoiler)[And she did! The ending was almost a little too neatly wrapped up (almost) but I am glad Melinda saved herself in time and used her voice to 'speak' out and protect others. I had a feeling Rachel would call her a liar. That had to really hurt most of all. Such a sad situation but a powerful story. I hope it's helped teens who read it deal with hard life circumstances. I might read another one of this author's books. The ending where Melinda finishes the tree made me tear up a lot. So glad I read this after all these years. (hide spoiler)]

What!? This book was made into a movie? I'll watch it after i finished reading :)"Oh I'm fine now. This novel just reminds me a lot of the sometimes awkward and sad times of youth. I am seriously glad to be out of high school lol
And yes, it was made into a movie starring Kristen Stewart - the Twilight actress, as I often think of her lol Here's info on it:
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0378793/I've read through part 2 now.
(view spoiler)[Melinda's parents are terrible. Her mother especially because she saw Melinda had cut herself and didn't act sympathetic or worried at all. In fact, she acted put upon and annoyed. I feel for Melinda. I hope soon she reaches out for help. I have a feeling the tree drawing she's struggling over will be seriously impactful. (hide spoiler)]
Lynn wrote: "Oh, my! I intend to reread this in April for a challenge prompt. Mind if I join in? I may get to it this next week. It will depend how much reading I finish this weekend."Sure, join in! I'd love to discuss it with somebody lol

I just finished Part 1. It's a fast read.
(view spoiler)[I feel for Melinda. She's pretty much disappearing inside herself, and almost everyone (parents, included) picks on her. Her former BFF Rachel treats her like crap. I was bullied in school and it was the worst feeling. I wish Melinda had someone to stand up for her. I wish she could get some therapy to deal with all her pent up feelings.
The end of part one intrigued and terrified me when she describes someone as IT. Obviously that is not a good IT. I will definitely keep reading. I want to know more. I might even see the movie with Kristen Stewart when I'm done reading. (hide spoiler)]

You are definitely using the spoiler tag right. I will share my thoughts ASAP :)
