51477 OKay, finished Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover at 3AM after a few bouts of tears! I'm giving it 4 stars; I loved it and it brought out emotions that I hadn't experienced over a book in a long time, the story was beautiful as a whole. I just wish there was more between them than the sex and occasional conversations. I get that he was only in it for that from the start, but I think I would have felt more of an impact if they had shared a lot of tender moments DESPITE his wishes. Don't get me wrong, I fell hard for Miles just like she did, but SHE didn't know all that we did. I felt like she fell in love with him but didn't know him at all, while we got to see this beautiful and tender side that just made me melt. I've seen some reviews/comments that said his flashbacks were childish and choppy, but I disagree. I was mesmerized with his thoughts on Rachel, those chapters just ripped me apart as I braced for something awful to happen. That kind of love, I mean, damn!! It overshadowed what he felt for Tate for me, other than those few precious moments when he let that slip...which was usually when he was in the throes of a seriously steamy scene that left you breathless! Lol

Ha, well that doesn't make me want to rush out and read it! LOL Yeah, this was an odd one for me, not sure I'll ever get back to it unless I hear people raving about the wrap-up.

51477 About halfway through Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover . Definitely loving it, definitely having my heart hit pretty hard! Feel like they kind of jumped right to the steamy scenes a bit (not that I'm complaining!!), but it says something about Colleen's writing that even with these thoughts, I'm still enthralled to the point of goosebumps whenever they're together! Without a doubt her most poetic and beautifully crafted writing yet.

Agreed, this was a very dark dystopian in terms of the psychological aspect. I gave it four stars but never went back to the series, not sure I will.

Yeah, I've found a lot of series, including my faves, go this route. I know as an author they are trying to hold onto their characters longer and some are trying to eek out a little more story for financial purposes, but there needs to be some sense and reasoning behind the choice to keep going. Felt that with Covenant, not so much with Lux.

You've probably already gotten an answer to this (sorry!!) but yep! That's another reason I'm just not ready to go there, I hate to say goodbye!!

God I know, the comments alone are killing me!! It's my next read, I've got to get a blog review done and then I'm devoting my spare time to UL!!

Yeah, this is what's keeping me from jumping to this final book. Whereas the Covenant series really needed the extra time to wrap up and the characters just got stronger and better, I feel like we're getting too much with Lux. I LOVE the series and don't want to say goodbye, but that doesn't mean I wanted to drag their story out, ya know? I decided to order the paperback and just read it when I get it, that way I'm not feeling rushed and I'll have it for J to sign!

This series gets better as it goes, honestly. I mean I loved the first book, and I think when things start to move along you'll enjoy it more.

51477 Well I couldn't resist and grabbed up Lover Enshrined (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #6) by J.R. Ward , I'm so addicted to these boys!! I was surprisingly not as into Phury's story as much as the others...felt like it lacked the romantic/alpha male punch since he was dealing with his addictions so much. But the rest of the characters had incredible storylines going on, so it's made me even more psyched for the rest of the books.

Going to work my way through a few blog review reads, but since I'm itching to get to them and MUST finish Lux, I'm squeezing in Opposition (Lux, #5) by Jennifer L. Armentrout and Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover !

Shit, see this is what I mean! I didn't even remember it was out...grrrr. Thank you for the painful reminder. LOL

LOVED this book but have still yet to get to the sequel. I know Annie loved it so I'm excited to finally read it!!

51477 I'm so sad, I'm getting way behind on my JLA and Hoover reading and I used to be on top of those like the butter on my bagel. I'm scared to look how many new ones I've missed at this point!

51477 Finally back from vacay and into the land of the internet connected! I'm not even going to try to catch up with the conversation from 4 days ago, but it sounds like lots of Hoover props going on here!! Love the woman, and I think I'm just going to have to catch up so I can get to Ugly Love too! =)

Finished Throttled (Men of Inked, #2.5) by Chelle Bliss which was pretty good but not enough meat to the story, and Don't Let Go by Sharla Lovelace which was heartbreaking but I really enjoyed. Onto more Becky Wicks with Before He Was Gone (Starstruck, #2) by Becky Wicks , can't wait because Before He Was Famous (Starstruck, #1) by Becky Wicks was AWESOME and this one looks really good too!!

Then I guess I'll finally pick up Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover so I can be caught up!!

I've got IIS up for a read very soon, though I don't want to do it right as I'm sending my son off for college...don't think I should read a sad book while dealing with all of those emotions! LOL
Aug 04, 2014 08:54PM

51477 I should say, despite my frustrations I did enjoy this. Sorry Annie, didn't mean to make you think I was wishing I didn't read it! LOL They can't all wrap up perfectly, so I appreciated that it wasn't all exactly as I would have liked. Just disappointed that they didn't get those special moments in life together. =/

Yes, bittersweet! Happy they got their remaining time together, sad they missed out on almost 3 decades together!
Aug 04, 2014 08:23PM

51477 Okay, so I finished it then went on vacay with the kids and had shitty connection so I couldn't get online to discuss! lol I definitely loved the idea behind this and the characters, I just had trouble getting past the "UGH, why?!" factors. WHY were they apart 26 years...this was an unnecessarily long time that forced them to live an entire adult life separated, thus making their future and what they felt for each other ages ago less significant. Wish it had been like 10 years, or if the point was for her to have an older daughter when he saw her again then maybe 15 years?? Maybe the point was they weren't ever supposed to share parenthood again, I don't know. I just wish they'd had that chance, it sucks that he would have been such an awesome dad and never got to.

On another note, the whole adoption thing got to me. I was in tears over Noah's reaction to baby Seth being taken away, it was SO heartbreaking how much he already loved his baby. Even at 17 he was a father and would have had a say as to whether or not he wanted his child, so yeah that whole concept of the baby being signed away without his consent was far-fetched. But again, I just wish Seth wasn't in his twenties when they found him! So sad that they missed out on ALL of his childhood, I hate that they never got to share that. And yeah, Mary should have been kept alive so we could see her suffer a long and painful series of lashings from EVERY OTHER CHARACTER IN THIS BOOK!!! Okay, I'm done rambling. =)
