I thought it was an interesting memoir. I learned quite a bit about Iran's history and culture. Loved the movie too!

I just finished reading Carl Hiaasen's
Bad Monkey. As usual, it is a hilarious romp through Florida's underbelly of crime.
I am trying to finish up Tom Holt's
The Portable Door so I can start the last book in the Alexia Tarabotti series by Gail Carriger. Tom Holt writes humorous fantasy/sci-fi similiar to A Lee Martinez and Terry Pratchett. I have casted Simon Pegg as the main character of this book in my head since the main character is kind of geeky and shy but funny. :)

Finished Chomp. It's a lighter Carl Hiaasen read since it's one of his juvenile books but still funny.
I've started listening to Zombie Spaceship Wasteland by Patton Oswalt. It is narrated by himself and Michael Stipe of REM. It has been quite entertaining so far.

I've been catching up on some graphic novel series- Y: The Last Man by Brian K. Vaughn and The Sandman by Neil Gaiman.
I'm also listening to Carl Hiaasen's juvenile fiction book Chomp... read by the James Van Der Beek. His motherly voice cracks me up.

I'm reading We Need to Talk About Kevin by Lionel Shriver for the Bean There, Read That book discussion group that will meet at the Classic Bean at 7 pm Tuesday night. It is a pretty dark book that examines the idea of a mother never bonding with her child and the child, who turns out to be a sociopath, never wanting to bond with the mother. Like it or not, it should make for some interesting discussion.

I am reading
The Heist by Janet Evanovich and Lee Goldberg. Just like her Stephanie Plum books, this book is a quick read and pretty funny. An FBI agent and a con artist team up to bring down an international smuggler/launderer.
You can definitely feel Lee Goldberg's writing influence in this book and I think it is a good match.

I had to read this book for a Library Materials for Teens class. I never realized how emotional and heavy some of the books can be for teens. I personally hated it but I think it is a great book for discussion since it examines the suicide of a teen, behaviours of the classmates, and questions that may be running through people's heads, etc.
I don't know how I would react to a package of cassette tapes since the person who committed suicide would have been planning their actions for awhile. All I know is that I'd be feeling a lot of anger and would have to wait a long time before I listened to them because I'd be afraid I'd destroy them.

Where'd You Go, Bernadette was hilarious. i\If you like reading about dysfunctional families I recommend it. The author wrote for Arrested Development too.
I am now reading
And the Mountains Echoed by Khaled Hosseini. I love this author and will continue to read anything he publishes. I find his writing beautiful and haunting.

I just finished
Blood Oath by Christopher Farnsworth which I really enjoyed. If you like your vampire stories colliding with your secret agent stories then I recommend this series.
I have started reading
Where'd You Go, Bernadette by Maria Semple. This is definitely not my usual read since it's chalked full of emails and diary entries, but I can't quit laughing outloud at the insane world the characters are living in. It takes place in Seattle and is full of characters that have plenty of money and time on their hands.

Let me know how you like the Stephen King book. I'm sort of entertained by the fact that you can substitute Topeka's lost but treasured Boyle's Joyland for the setting instead of a North Carolina amusement park. :)

I seem to be stuck in the present!!! :)

I need to read this author. I hear nothing but goods things about her books all the time!

I have finally got out of my reading slump! I'm finishing up Neil Gaiman's American Gods. I enjoy his writing so much... his books are fun escapes. I'm also flying through the latest Charlaine Harris book, Dead Ever After. I 'm always worried that this series will get old but I'm having a hard time putting it down.
Apparently, I'm on a vampire kick because I'm going to read Joe Hill's Nos4a2 and Christopher Farnsworth's Blood Oath next.
