50549 Reading a western right now. I received an advanced reader's copy of Larry McMurtry's Last Kind Words Saloon. A couple of the main characters are Wyatt Earp and Doc Holiday so of course I'm constantly picturing Val Kilmer while I'm reading it even though it takes place prior to their epic Tombstone clash.

I've never read McMurtry before. The story seems a little choppy but I wonder if it is because it is an ARC. Has anyone else read him? I know he wrote Lonesome Dove.

50549 I watched the movie and really enjoyed it. I really think Jennifer Lawrence's performance was great! But I say that about every movie she is in. :)

I'm slowly reading the book now. Of course, if I had read it first I wouldn't have liked the movie that much.

50549 And Melanie, after I watched HBO's VEEP I have been determined to start using POTUS more when I speak or discuss about our presidents. So glad you used it! :)

I know Megan has recently read a biography on John Quincy Adams that the library purchased in 2013. She said it was great if you're looking for more presidential bios.

50549 Cheryll, I'm the same right now. I've only read one book since the new year started. I just got the second title in the Young Adult Miss Peregrine's Peculiar Children series called Hollow City. I really enjoyed the first book so hopefully I'll be able to read this in a timely fashion. :)

50549 I just finished Emerald Green by Kerstin Gier... the last book in her Ruby Red trilogy. The trilogy is a fast-paced, time traveling story filled with some teen romance. I found it entertaining.

50549 I finally have caught the reading bug again. Might be due to the fact that I signed up for the Goodreads challenge to read 50 books this year. I hope I make it!

I'm reading the latest in the Ethan Gage series, The Barbed Crown, by William Deitrich. It has started off slowly compared to the others but I think his spying assignments from Sir Sydney Smith and Napoleon are about to clash... again. This double agent's adventures are always funny and entertaining to read.

50549 Okay I admit that I didn't get very far on this challenge. I'm too lazy to really go back through, but if I finished anything it was Option 1. I hope you all had better luck than I did. :)

50549 I just finished Neil Gaiman's The Ocean at the End of the Lane and loved it! It is a quick magical read where you are transported to a beautiful realm that exists on the Hempstock farm in Sussex England. The troubled main character discovers that the world is not as it seems and is pulled into a situation too strange and terrifying for any child to have to deal with. Great book! Highly recommend.
