I didn't love this one. The short story format annoyed me-I wish there was a more cohesive narrative.

Loved this book. It was one of those that made me laugh and made me cry which I always love. I have yet to read the follow up
Certain Girls but want to.

I too read the book right after the movie-loved them both. The book does give you a better understanding of the characters but then, they always do.

I read the book a year or two before seeing the movie and I really like it. It definitely helps to have things a little foggier before you see the movie.

I loved this one. I too have yet to read the 2nd one because I didn't like Darcy. My friend said the same thing you did Melissa, that you wind up liking her. I'll have to pull it off my shelf one day soon.

Good point-I guess it did make the ultimate reading list!

Yeah, I might but it didn't get the most glowing reveiws here and I wonder if it's worth even bothering.

My copy still has not come in from the library. They 're usually really good about it but there was only one copy in the entire system. I wonder if it got lost or something. I think I'll just wait and join the January discussion.

Still waiting on mine. There was only one copy in my library system. I think it's a series, maybe I messed up.
Okay, just checked-there are at least 3 books, the other two being
Charmed and Ready Bronwyn the Witch book 2 and
Charmed and Deadly Bronwyn the Witch book 3Of course after your review Melissa I can't imagin that we'll all be wanting to read the other books in the series!

Waiting for my copy from the library-it looks cute. Has anyone read the others in the series too?

I just read this and Dracula in honor of Halloween. I found myself wishing the book was over-it didn't really do it for me.

I just bought this and the next two in the series. I'm hooked on the HBO show "True Blood" so I had to check this out.

Nicole-Are you talking about the hinting at the lesbian relationship? I thought that point was actually made stronger in the book than in the movie but it's been a long time. It's funny though because in Daisy Fay and the Miracle Man there is also some hinting at this too. I haven't made it through Fannie Flagg's most recent books to know if this is a running theme with her or if it's just her first two.

Thanks for the heads up on this one. I have been stressing out at the number of books I'm supposed to be reading for book clubs and it's nice to when it's just not worth the time. A weight has been lifted from my shoulders...ahh.

I have tried to read this 3 different times but always lose steam when Elphaba is at school. It's such a great idea but I just can't make it through.

I read this with the Rory Gilmore book club. We read Jane Eyre first then this (definitley adds more to the story that way.) The Eyre Affair was really clever, lots of funny plays on words and grammar-just a really smart book. I borrowed the next book in the series,
Lost in a Good Book but haven't started it, an on going issue with me!

Don't give up Liz-it's so good!

I have had this hanging around my house for years- a friend gave me a bunch of books she had finished and this was one I've never picked up. I'm going to have to check it out.

Got it from the library but haven't started. I still have 4 or 5 other books ahead of it and I was just debating stopping at the library on my way home-I am truly an addict!

I don't really know either. My only thought was that he had succeeded in making himself so irresistable that people felt like they had to have a piece of him. It was all so freaky.
