I read this a long long time ago but I loved it. An Alienist was the term used for a psychologist, in the book the alienist (whose name I can't remember) is basically profiling a serial killer who is terrorizing London. Really well done, totally worth checking out.

I didn't even bother with the movie because I heard it was such a disappointment. I was really surprised by how much I liked the book-fabulous!
