RIFers! Chris Pavone’s debut spy thriller The Expats has been compared to the early works of Ken Follett, Frederick Forsyth, Robert Ludlum, and John le Carre.
Some of the biggest names in thrillers are rallying behind Pavone’s remarkable first novel. Patricia Cornwell thinks you won’t soon forget the “powerful female protagonist.” John Grisham says The Expats is “smart, clever suspense, skillfully plotted.” John Connolly believes it’s “one of the most accomplished debuts of recent years.”

Becky, we hope you like it, and thank you for sharing it with your friends!
QUIET is an eye-opening look at introverts, and Susan Cain is a great writer. I'm sure it will be popular with bookish people like us!
Speaking of, we created a poll for RIFers on FB about introverts and extroverts: "Bookish people are..."

And Stephanie, we'd love to hear your answer to Kate's question!

And ... I'm with you on Neil Gaiman. Saw him once at BEA. Sha-zam!

Welcome, Stephanie! You can answer the "author crush" question, too, if you like! ;-)

Kate, you remind me of one of my favorite questions to ask authors - and editors! This one is for you both.
Who's your author crush?
Not who do you admire and love reading, but who would make you all woozy and star-struck if you saw him/her walking down the street?
And next, since I can't resist: what's your guilty pleasure when it comes to reading? For instance, I've seen so many women (and a few men!) hiding their copies of TWILIGHT on the NYC subway, folded into copies of The New Yorker....
Read It Forward wrote: "Sam - and Kate, too, I'm sure you gave this a lot of thought - how do you describe BEFORE EVER AFTER? Romance? Mystery? Historical adventure?"
Samantha wrote: "Do I have to pick one? Um, ok. Platypus."Love that! A platypus novel.
Samantha wrote: "Chrissie wrote: "Thank you I have some Hot tea with me now :)Book sounds like it will be good. I am a doctor who fan also!"
I was watching Season 3 when I wrote the book. Loved the balance of humo..."It's not often that I get to share bragging rights on this one: my brother used to be the president of the Doctor Who Fan Club of America.
But the connection you make is interesting, Sam - I love that you were inspired to write, in part, by a TV show.
Tell us about the moment you decided "I'm going to write a novel."
