RIFers! Check out this review of CALLING INVISIBLE WOMEN from RIFer Karen O."Calling Invisible Women was an absolute delight!" says Karen O. "An interesting fact to note: the author is the mother of novelist Anne Patchett, one of my favorites, whose latest novel also dealt with issues regarding the greed and politics of a big pharmaceutical company."
This makes us think of other family connections between writers. Do you have any favorites? Jonathan Safran Foer and Nicole Krauss come to mind!
RIFers! Keep chatting about Lisa Unger and her books - she'll drop by over the next week or so as HEARTBROKEN hits the shelves to answer your questions and read your comments.
RIFers! Lisa Unger's newest thriller HEARTBROKEN comes out in just few weeks! Available from Crown wherever books are sold June 26, 2012. Were you a lucky winner of our Read It First giveaway of HEARTBROKEN? Have you read Lisa Unger's other thrillers and mysteries?
Lisa sure does have a lot of fans out there. Are you one of them? What makes her thrillers so good?
I'll get the conversation started and say that from the moment I read BEAUTIFUL LIES, I recognized Lisa's gift for portraying strong, complicated, interesting women in crazy situations who nonetheless seemed really familiar....

We were amazed at how many of you had a personal connection to Kristen Iversen's FULL BODY BURDEN. Check out RIFer comments here. FULL BODY BURDEN is unlike anything we've read before: part-memoir, part-investigative journalism, and 100% riveting read.

Hundreds of you responded to our RIF poll "Truth, Fiction and War" - we were interested to learn that many of you believe that fiction can tell the truth of war better than history. As always, if you've read THE WATCH, we want to hear from you!
If you haven't read, we want to know if you're interested in reading the first major novel of the Afghanistan War.
Thanks for your feedback, Beth! Our hope is that by posting several weeks after the giveaway has run, people who won copies will gather on GR in a sort of virtual book group to discuss the read. But we will take your suggestion and think about how we can use our GR group to broadcast the giveaways before they expire, too.
Thank you!

A good comparison, you think? Also, do you like to read short story collections? Does it matter if they're stand-alone stories or closely linked like those in THE KISSING LIST?
Check out the RIF post - and RIFer comments - on Read It First giveaway of Stephanie Reents' THE KISSING LIST.

Was the Satmar familiar to you, or did you learn new things about this pious enclave? What did you think about the way Markovits resolves the long-hidden family secrets that are finally brought to the surface?
RIFer winners of our Facebook giveaway for THE FOURTH FISHERMAN by Joe Kissack: we want to hear from you! This was a different kind of book for RIF - all the books we feature are nearly all fiction and memoir/biography, and this is more Christian self-help.

So many good theories - all make sense to me! Watching the class structures adapt is fascinating....thanks, everyone!
Xe, I know that feeling so well! When you're just dying to talk with someone about a book that's really moved you. So glad you enjoyed THE BIRD SISTERS. I felt the same way when I finished - didn't want to leave Milly & Twiss! They haunted me....
