4170 Who you calling old, fella? ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜œ

Just because I had finished High School "before" Star Wars was released ๐Ÿคจ ๐Ÿ˜‰ ๐Ÿ˜œ

As most of us original Star Wars nerds are getting up there I wish they would make some SW shows that are aimed at an older audience and tackle complex issues.

I am enjoying Bad Batch.

13 year old me is yelling "Hutch" ๐Ÿ˜‰ That was one of my favourite programs when I was in high school.

Paul Michael Glaser was "Starsky"

It was bit meh. I liked the art style, but the story wasn't as good as I expected.

I've only seen the first 4. I did enjoy "Snow in the Desert" and "Pop Squad"

But as others have said Season 1 was better. Though there were a few duds in the 18 episodes.

Not too edgy for D+ in Oz ๐Ÿ˜‰

4170 I had to click on the link to see what thy are describing. So the blurb works.

They're right, It is whimsical.

I don't know US house prices, but US$325 k for a 2 story city apartment sounds cheap

That was Vinnie Barbarino's insult from "Welcome Back Kotter"

Yeah a lot of the humour from comedies from the 70s hasn't aged well.

4170 Calvey wrote: "I always thought of Roots as a miniseries....it was, right?"

Yes it was a mini-series (or limited run series) of 8 episodes in the US.

It is a long time ago when it ran in Oz (1977), but we may have got the re-edited 6 part series that the BBC had.

Exact same content just made to have identical length episodes.

Great mini-series BTW, as was "Roots: The Next Generations" a few years later.

4170 It's been more than 40 years since I watched "Roots". But I don't remember there being many laughs in it. ๐Ÿค”

Bit of an unfortunate gaffe there (twice) by Robb. Thankfully Tom corrected it.
4170 When I read the novellas I was picturing Murderbot as looking like Robocop. So even though I knew it was non-gendered, I thought of it as having a male voice and physique.

I haven't heard the audiobook version so may have been skewed to the way they presented it, if I had.

4170 "She Who Must Be Obeyed"

I went through a H. Rider Haggard phase when I was young. (Early teens). I loved She, King Solomon's Mines & the Allan Quartermain series.

I worry that if I tried to read them now they'd be more sexist & racist than I remember from 45+ years ago.

I can agree with that. 3 episodes in on Shadow & Bone and I'm still trying to work everything and everyone out. The Nevers is more straightforward and relatable from the start with a few unfolding mysteries and uncertain character motivations.

LotR is not a trilogy. The Two Towers is the middle third of a single book, that is sometimes split into 3 books

Ian (RebelGeek) wrote: "I got all 43 books for $25. I'm happy so far, but I think I'm ready for one those new iPads coming out. My old original iPad Air is a bit slow."

I ended up buying the lot for US$25. At less than 60c an issue it was too good a deal.

I am not familiar with most of the titles, but they look like my type of comics.

4170 I loved Sweet Tooth.

The trailer isn't selling me that the TV series is going to be as good. But I will definitely watch to find out.
