4170 Sport is the only thing I watch "live" these days.

Everything else is at my convenience. Even free to air TV stations have their own free streaming services to catch up on series..

Remember the days when if you missed your favourite TV show, you had to wait years (if ever) for a repeat. I know a very small handful here do 😉

4170 The Becky Chambers book recently made the Semi-Final of March Madness. So should be a popular book for S&L readers.

It's not enforced. It's taken on trust. When asked for your country choose US or Canada (wherever you are from 😉 )

I've been getting the Tor Free Book's of the Month for 5 years.

Tor wants you to have it. The author wants you to have it. It's only the publishers who try to enforce these regional restrictions.

I actively avoided it. I knew It was something I could have got addicted to.

I purposely only buy games now that have an end point. So I can walk away from them after a few days (week, months)

4170 I'd assume a summer read is a book you specifically buy to read while you're on summer holidays. (At beach or resort)

It would typically be less complex and short. Something you can read a few pages of between swimming, drinking cocktails or having fun.

Something that doesn't tax the brain or demand too much attention.

There is a good chance it will be the June pick.

4170 With the discussion of the excellent comedy series "Our Flag Means Death", I was surprised Veronica and/or Tom never mentioned the only cast member who has been interviewed on "Sword and Laser"

Wee John Feeney (AKA Kristian Nairn) or as we all know him "Hodor"

It is mind blowing to think that we are closer in time to Cleopatra, than Cleopatra was to the construction of the Pyramids of Giza.

They were already over 2,400 years old when she was born.

4170 Then you will really love the Graphic Novels.

4170 Dark was fantastic. It is a very intelligent Time travel drama. 10/10. Highly recommended also.

It does become very complicated trying to keep all the time related threads together and who's who, with people shown over multiple time periods and ages and not always chronological. They can be younger in later time periods or older in previous time periods.

Especially if you watched it like I did with a long break waiting for the new season.

If you're talking about this months book pick, then it is pre-1920s.

It is set in 1912

4170 If you want to read a Kindle version of "A Dead Djinn in Cairo", it is available for free as part of the anthology. "Some of the Best from Tor.com: 2016" that is available at Amazon.

4170 It was alright when I listened to it.
4170 We do end up reading more than 1 book from each March Madness as a Book Pick. They do work as inspiration for Veronica and Tom for future picks.

2016: 4 were Book Picks. (Including winner)
2017: 4
2018: 4
2019: 5
2020: 3
2021: 2

I was referring to another old dude. 😉 Who may be turning 60 in June 😬

It would make him happy for the group to read "Rivers of London" and discuss it. 😎

All Sanderson is offering is that the backers get the books first and a premium version of the books plus swag.

They will be released, eventually, through normal means, in normal versions. Minus the swag.
4170 Just pick "Rivers of London". Which it sounds like Veronica may do soon.

June is a good month. 😬 It would make some old dude happy 😎
