I love Samurai Champloo. Not as much, but another fun series.

4170 For my own personal challenges, I'm finished with:

Personal: 24/25 (96% complete)
Sword: 9/5 (180% complete)
Laser: 12/5 (240% complete)

I finished reading 2 sci-fi books this month. My personal count and Laser challenges have been off by 1 book for awhile until I finally figured out why it was double counting Abaddon's Gate (somehow my original read date was updated to 2021, but the start date of January 2014 had remained in tact).

Still re-reading Expanse and nothing else. I'm about halfway through book 7, so with the delay of book 9, I should probably finish in time.

I also plan to do my first non-audiobook in forever this month, so I'll likely tack on 3-4 books in November and easily finish my Personal challenge ahead of time.

4170 I mean, I really enjoyed Pandora's Star, and thought Judas unchained brought things to a pretty good conclusion. I read some of his other commonweath books and liked them alright, but not nearly as much.

I own, but haven't read Great North Road, so I can't really compare Pandora's Star to that.

I'm not going to advocate for you to go read Pandora's Star though, seems like your mind is already made up.

They are long books, if you don't like long books there are plenty of other things to choose from.

There was discussion if Pandora would be the longest book we read, and 1Q84 came up for comparsion.

4170 It's worth noting that Pandora's Star is basically the first half of an even larger book and if you enjoy it you're going to want to read Judas Unchained right after.
4170 Our November pick is Aurora Rising by Alastair Reynolds. It was previously called The Prefect

I'm listening to that now! It's really good. I'm doing a reread ahead of the final book's release next month.

4170 I've always liked sports and mostly always had nerdier pursuits.

My mom was a librarian and would read a book all the time, including when she had football on in the background.

It never felt strange to me to like both.

Better than 6 months! Of course for me, I typically have consumed it via trades, which means I have about 9 months to wait, it not longer.

4170 Personally I only post book related TV/Movies to quick burns.

I don't know how to categorize House of Dragons though.

4170 So I'm not usually as strict about side talk in this thread as I am in the Quick Burns thread, but this is starting to stretch out a bit.

I don't have a good deal to share to get us back on track though.

But if people want to keep talking about Kindle usability, maybe make a new thread?

4170 My guess is they just haven't updated the dates everywhere yet. Amazon still shows me the hardcover coming out on the 14th (along with the ebook).

4170 I will say I was disappointed the book got pushed back. I have the audio, so I thought maybe there was an issue with the narrator, but I guess they just pushed all formats back to account for the physical copy problems.
