Hi everyone! You can put the books you read for TCPL's 2018 Challenge on bookshelves. Besides the standard Goodreads categories (e.g. "Read", "Want to Read", etc.) there are custom shelves for audiobooks, Library books, animals and Finger Lakes/NYS books.
The last two will be used for our current mini-challenge drawing for calendars at the end of the month. Get reading and reviewing books with animals and/or Finger Lakes/NYS themes, settings, characters, etc. Share your thoughts.
Best wishes,
The 2018 TCPL Reading Challenge Team

I think I would like to see the books that we ..."Hi again! We've changed the settings so any member can add books to bookshelves for the group. Cady is creating different bookshelves - such as one for audiobooks.
Good morning everyone! We hope you're reading like crazy. The recent frigid weather makes it inviting to curl up with a good book.
Mini-challenge #1 was to be one of the first ten people to signup on this group. Challenge complete! We have 22 members. If you haven't picked up your prize-winning mug and spoon yet, please stop in and claim yours.
Now, on to the next challenge! We have two 2018 calendars to give away.
Over the next two weeks, read and submit a book review that involves one or both of the subjects or themes below. It could be the setting, the character(s), a trainer's manual, a trail guide, or something else. You tell us how it fits. When you've posted a review, reply to this thread and let us know.
A. Animals
B. The Finger Lakes, New York, or Ithaca
The books can be fiction or nonfiction. Be sure to tell us what it is and how it meets the challenge. We'll have a random drawing from the reviews you submit to pick two winners. This "mini-challenge" ends January 31st.
Remember you can print out or pick up a Reading Log at the Library. The link is http://tcpl.org/events-exhibits/docum.... Pop up challenges like this one may be inspired by the categories you find there.
Happy Reading,
The 2018 TCPL Reading Challenge Team (Cady, Joyce, Tom and Teresa)
The last one I read was “Purebred Dead”, a Cocker Spaniel cozy series by Kathleen Delaney. It was fun, light and a quick read.
Under the HarrowThree down - 97 to go! Not sure how this will show up in this discussion board, but, if you're interested, here it is:
Under the Harrow by Flynn BerryMy rating: 3 of 5 stars
Some parts of this psychological mystery are very good. Should the reader trust the narrator telling the story or is she crazy, jealous, and capable of murdering her own sister? Sister relationships are complex and the author does a wonderful job of laying out the conflicted feelings that may arise and the emotional damage left over from childhood and alcoholism. I only gave it 3 stars because the resolution based on clues was difficult to follow and although I listened to the last few chapters twice, it remained unclear to me. Not sure what I missed.

Just finished first book of 2018! “The River Bank” by Kij Johnson. Fun and whimsical “sequel” to “The Wind and the Willows” for adults but easily good for kids too.
I’ve just set my goal. 100 books including audio editions. Starting with finishing The River Bank by Kim Johnson and Her Body and Other Parties by Carmen Maria Machado. Both are very good so far.
