38077 I have been reading more St.John. I tried Collins Seven Nights to Forever, because it was the only DABWAHA Historical that I hadn't read, and I loved all the others. I couldn't finish it. Did anyone else have that reaction? I found the characters and the plot unrealistic and unappealing, and I couldn't believe at all in the connection between the hero and heroine (I'll forgive a lot if that works!)

In theory I should have the new Sarah Addison Allan book on my nook today--but I cant get it to download. Very frustrating. I haven't had this problem before.

38077 Not to give anything away, but the earrings are in the last scene...

38077 Now I am reading The Bounty Hunter by St John which has a great independent woman heroine. Thanks Irish eyes!

38077 I just finished Sweet Annie and really liked it. I haven't read a lot in this subgenre but I do like Jo goodman's books and Maggie Osbournes. And while it's a little different Crooked Hearta by Gaffney is not to be missed.

38077 I just tried a couple of Cheryl St Johns and really like them. I can't remember who mentioned them but thanks! And a lot of her books are available as ereads from B&N.

38077 Oops. It has belatedly occured to me to point out that Eloisa's novel made it into round 2 and you have another hour to vote for it.
And Courtney made it out of roundtwo which I think Means she will be up against Last Nights Scandal in round 3 although possibly it could be Wicked becomes you.
And Courtneys effort to trash talk and hero worship Joanna bourne at the same time on her blog is not to be missed....

38077 Not sure what to read: I've gone through almost all my romance TBRs. May have to read nonfiction

38077 I have no idea at all.

38077 I usually reread old favorites. If you haven't read the iron duke it's a great book and the unusual world really draws you in. If you want something light and funny I just read and enjoyed Janet Mullany Rules of Gentility

38077 I gave up on Singh. I decided too much violence and pain a
d not a whole lot of relationships. Mow reading Janet Mullany rules of gentility.

38077 Really? What treats you have ahead! I think my dearest enemy is a romance classic!

38077 This was the one I thought! Her website says it was first published in 2001
Those pesky multiple editions...

38077 The DA BWAHA reader pick selection is open until March 15 (ignore where it says March 8--see the blog for current date)and you can nominate one book in every catgegory HERE: http://dabwaha.com/2011/03/nominate-y...

And the seven books chosen so far in each category are listed HERE:

http://dabwaha.com/category/finalists/

(DA BWAHA is March madness for romance books, with eight contenders in eight categories; seven in each categoery are nominated by the bloggers at smartbitchestrashybooks.com and one in every category nominated by readers; all the brackets decided by online voting. I find it really hard to figure out how to put my votes in but its still fun to watch.)

38077 I've been really burning through books (DH is traveling for work most of the month...) Finished Whisper of Scandal, read and really enjoyed Dark Road to Darjeeling, and now am trying to get into Archangels Kiss by Nalini Singh. So far (50 pages in) its not working for me. I don't usually care where I start in a series but maybe this one I should have started at teh beginning.
Mar 08, 2011 06:07AM

38077 It took me a long time to warm up to the hero in Whisper of Scandal. And there were places I really didn't like the heroine either. Still it was a lot better than other books I have read by her.
I do feel she doesn't capture the period or the setting she writes about well. Men pouring buckets of water over themselves in the artic cold? Ice sculpture on the dinner table in 1811?

38077 Nope, the one I was thinking of ws 2001. Ok. I'm stumped
Mar 07, 2011 11:27AM

38077 Hard to explain! Angels can control the weather by singing on a planet with several different cultures. Each book is about a different archangel relationship with his or her Angela (non angel spouse )
Mar 07, 2011 10:20AM

38077 Thanks. Have you tried Sharon Shinn's Angel books? They are very good although not hot in terms of the relationships
